$13.05 Liner Notes -In 1996 while living in Westport, Connecticut I formed PICK 3, a small group of like-minded individuals, all with a Passion for Pickin'. We played the New York tri-state area and released our first recording in 1997. It came to a halt in 1998 when my family moved up to Gloucester, Massachusetts, on Cape Ann, where I found a really vibrant music scene. There, Pat Conlon and I met, and over the next few years Pick 3 started playing again with Pat and I working out some new vocal parts. Nick Aparo has been with us a little over a year. I had the pleasure of playing with Nate Leath and Dana King on various occasions, but prior to this taping they had never met before. PICK 3 usually plays a good mix of Bluegrass, Celtic, Swing, Country, Western Swing, and Blues Music. On this particular evening we played mostly bluegrass since banjo and fiddle are such welcome additions that really fill out that material. The pickers assembled for this session make good music on the fly due to their sensitivity, and willingness to take risks. Through their playing they push the music in new directions while simultaneously remaining supportive. These boys can jam! This was necessary in the absence of true arrangements, as most arranging was accomplished impromptu with nothing more than a nod of a head. We were all looking forward to a fun night, and although Pick 3 had never played as a five-piece, I thought it might be worth recording. We did so by taking ...
