THREE DOLLAR BILL, YALL$, mixes a funky rhythm section, screeching guitars, half rapped, half screamed vocals and noisy sound sculpting (courtesy of DJ Lethal of House Of Pain fame) into a stew that wastes no time simmering and heads straight for a rolling boil. Taking cues from Rage Against The Machine and buddies Korn, the band creates a nearly impenetrable wall of sound.

Singer Fred Durst obviously has some issues to work out, and he uses the band as an opportunity to vent. Whether he's railing against fake scenesters ("Counterfeit"), a gold-digging girlfriend ("Stuck") or his own insecurities ("Nobody Loves Me"), Durst makes his opinions known in no uncertain terms, and at the top of his lungs to boot. Throw in a cover of George Michael's "Faith" and you've got a killer CD.

Recorded at Indigo Ranch Studio, Malibu, California.

Audio Mixers: Andy Wallace; Steve Sisco.

Recording information: Indigo Ranch Studio Malibu, CA.

Limp Bizkit: Fred Durst (vocals); Wes Borland (guitar); Sam Rivers (bass); John Otto (drums); DJ Lethal (DJ).

3 stars Rap-Metal At It's Best
I think this is a great cd, just think of all the bands that this cd inspired, Linkin Park, Alien Ant Farm, Papa Roach, P.O.D., Pillar! Buy It, it's great!! Especially if your into the whole rap-metal thing, if you're not, and you like good old metal, get Megadeth's "Rust In Peace"

1 star Ha!
Watered down ripped off Korn riffs, qausi rapped vocals, really stupid lyrics, Nirvana type song structure, little babies screaming and 100% trendy! Enough said.

1 star Nu-Metal Garbage
This band is the epitome of fake, sellout, crappy, useless posers that give music a bad name. This album proves it too. What will it take to make people see that rap and rock will never go together? By the way rap sucks too. nu metal (limp bizkit, deftones, mudvayne, korn, linkin park, staind, system of a down, disturbed, slipknot ect. ect.)is so fake and shouldn't have word "metal" in it, it doesn't deserve it. Fred Durst IS NOT in it for the music, passion, or fans anyway, he could care less. He's in it for the $ and the chicks. He thinks he's god's gift to women when the fact of the matter is that he wears his little red ny yankee cap to hide his bald head. It's pathetic because he thinks he's so invincible and trys to act like a walking razor blade, especially on stage, lol. God, I can't believe that he doesn't know why so many people hate his guts. What a loser. I also can't believe that they ripped off local guitarists buy stealing their 60 second riffs at a guitar center "guitarist audition", in which they stole these riffs to probably use in their later albums to make more $. What fake musicians. These guys need to be shot. If you want some Real Metal, go out and buy some Exodus, Slayer, Testament, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, 80's Ozzy, or Old Metallica with Cliff. The day that limp bizkit breaks up, I'm throwing a "Real" 80's Heavy Metal party. 'Nuff said.

Amassed
Spring Heel Jack Amassed CD  (2002)

Three Dollar Bill, Y'All
CD $13.89  Audio Samples
The transformation of Spring Heel Jack into its own brand of avant electronic jazz continues with Amassed, rather logically following up on the previous year's Masses as another entry in the "Blue Series." Performers like Evan Parker and Matthew Shipp once again return, accompanied by a slew of fellow improvisational musicians (drummer Han Bennink, trombonist Paul Rutherford, and bassist George Trebar among them). If not a regular performing group capturing a nuanced sound, the lineup readily demonstrates both the abilities of the performers and the relaxed-but-on-point edge of the overall performance ("Wormwood" is a fine standout, Bennink's drumming an understated but crucial part of the arrangement). There's also a ringer from the rock world -- Spiritualized's Jason Pierce, who had Spring Heel Jack as an opening act back in 1997 and whose interest in free jazz makes him a perfect addition. He contributes to four tracks in particular, including "Maroc," written by Pierce and Parker, with the saxophonist ripping out some frenetic work while Pierce's guitar contributes tense shading and feedback shreds in the background. The air of Amassed in general is much like Masses in that the combination of on-the-spot work and ...
High And Mighty
Uriah Heep High And Mighty CD  (1976) Bonus Tracks; England

Three Dollar Bill, Y'All
CD $10.59
Uriah Heep's HIGH & MIGHTY is the prog metal group's 1976 album, featuring 18 tracks including "Midnight," "Misty Eyes," and "Weep In Silence." By 1976, Uriah Heep was on shaky ground. Although they had scored a big success with Return to Fantasy, the group was suffering from personality conflicts (vocalist David Byron left after this album) and division over their musical direction. This tension is visibly apparent on High and Mighty, an album that shows flashes of the group's old firepower, but is ultimately sunk by a combination of unfocused experimentation and uneven songwriting. It starts promisingly with a solid first side: "One Way or Another" is a surging, dramatic hard rocker that features Ken Hensley trading verses with bassist John Wetton, and "Misty Eyes" is an engaging up-tempo tune that trades the group's hard rock thunder for a sound built on some tasty acoustic guitar riffs. It also contains one of the group's finest songs in "Midnight," a meditation on the price of success that neatly balances Mick Box's soaring guitar leads with an array of lush keyboard textures from Ken Hensley. This song is also notable for the dramatic, heart-wrenching vocal it is given by David Byron. However, ...

Backed by a Copenhagen-based band he dubs the Danes, Kevin Welch rocks out a little more than usual on his fifth album, Millionaire. This unit has mastered the kind of rock shuffle for which the Rolling Stones are known; you get the feeling they could encore with a good version of "Honky Tonk Women." The arrangements make ...
