Motorhead: Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica, bass); Phil Campbell (guitar); Mikkey Dee (drums). Personnel: Lemmy Sez, Lemmy (vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica, bass guitar); Philip Anthony Campbell , Tim Butcher, Tom Miller (guitar); Mickey Dee, Mikkey Dee (drums). Audio Mixer: Ryan Dorn. Recording information: Ocean Studio; Track House Recording Studio. Following the extremely thrashy Sacrifice, Motörhead returned to their typical three-chord rock & roll onslaught with 1996's Overnight Sensation. Also the band's most eclectic in years, its tracks range from pedal to the metal stompers like "Civil War" and "Eat the Gun" to mid-paced groovers like "Listen to Your Heart" (featuring acoustic guitars -- shock!) and the classy "I don't Believe a Word." Always a great lyricist, vocalist /bassist Lemmy takes it up a notch with the highly ironic title track and what is quite possibly the band's greatest song of the decade, the exceptionally funny "Crazy Like a Fox." Despite its terrifying cover (featuring the trio's ugly mugs instead of the band's trademark iron monster), this wonderfully raw and honest record is guaranteed to please, especially older fans. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia 1996's OVERNIGHT SENSATION, the second release from their new label, CMC, picked up exactly where 1995's SACRIFICE had left off. The band's finest recording since 1991's World War One themed 1916, OVERNIGHT SENSATION offers a smorgasbord of gritty sandpaper vocals from Lemmy, and their unique brand of chugalug guitar riffing. Highlights include the ballad "I Don't Believe a Word," as well as such rough and ready rockers as "Civil War," "Crazy Like a Fox," "Eat the Gun," "Love Can't Buy You Money," and the title track. With OVERNIGHT SENSATION, Motorhead continued to churn out inspired metal.Q (12/96, p.140) - 2 Stars (out of 5) - "...business as usual: full-throttle bass lines, earthquake drumming, daft lyrics....The current guitarist...is perhaps a little too fond of soft-metal frills, but the crux of the sound is still Lemmy's hoarse bark..." heaviest & best! Plain & simple. Even the 'ballad' "I don't believe a word" kicks ass! If there is a better OVERALL
Motorhead album, I haven't heard it. BTW, I've heard them all - through INFERNO anyway. Buy it or stop pretending to be a Motorhead fan! Submitted by Mark (Vancouver , BC, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
lemmy have it yes, people say overkill are a harder version of ac/dc, but i say "so what!" this is, to me, their best album of the last 10 years. it has everything we love about motorhead sound wise, and lemmy's patented tongue and cheek lyrics resound throughout. i really like this one! a must have for any motor-maniac. keep rockin' lemmy! Overnight Sensation
$9.99 Motorhead: Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, bass); Phil "The Zoomster" Campbell (guitar); Mikkey Dee (drums). Additional personnel: Bill Bergman (saxophone); John Paroulo (piano). Recorded at Cherokee Studios, Hollywood, California. Metal bands are supposed to lose their energy and power as they age, but Motörhead stubbornly refused to obey that rule, maintaining their string of tough, enjoyable albums into the mid-'90s. Sacrifice, the group's 1995 effort, doesn't offer anything ...
| | Motorhead Snake Bite Love CD (1998)
Overnight Sensation
$10.15 Audio Mixer: Mark Dearnley. Recording information: Valley. Unknown Contributor Roles: Lemmy; Mikkey Dee. No matter how many years the band toils on, Lemmy Kilmister refuses to change the basic hard and fast rules of Motörhead. Usually, that's a plus, since nothing quite compares to Motörhead roaring ahead at full blast, but occasionally it can result in an undistinguished album. Snake Bite Love is one of those. There isn't necessarily anything wrong with the record, as it offers a solid set of blistering, heavy rockers that race by at breakneck speed, but it doesn't add any new twists to the formula or have particularly memorable songs. Snake Bite Love sounds fine as it's playing, ...

Overnight Sensation
$10.15 10 Brand New Tracks For 2000 By Lemmy And The Boys
Motorhead: Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, bass); Phil Campbell (guitar, background vocals); Mikkey Dee (drums). Producers: Motorhead, Bob Kulick, Bruce Bouillet, Duane Barron. Recorded at Karo Studios, Brackel, Germany between June & August 1999. The '90s witnessed a surprising and somewhat overlooked renaissance for Lemmy Kilmister and Motörhead, starting with 1991's 1916. The follow-up, March or Die, was woefully subpar and overly commercial, and many dismissed 1916 as a fluke and gave the band up for dead. However, Motörhead then embarked on a run of quality albums for smaller, lower-profile labels; Bastards, Sacrifice, and Overnight Sensation were surprisingly consistent, written and performed with conviction in the classic Motörhead style. The band slipped a bit with 1998's Snake Bite Love, but have thankfully stormed ...

Liner Note Authors: Steffan Chirazi; Lemmy Kilmister. Recording information: 02/??/1983-06/10/1983. Photographer: Mick Stevenson. Unknown Contributor Role: Brian Robertson. To this day, Another Perfect Day remains one of the most unique (albeit misunderstood) albums in the entire Motörhead catalog. The band's first effort sans legendary axe-meister "Fast" Eddie Clarke (following six albums, of which at least three are still considered timeless classics), Another Perfect Day would be the band's only outing ...

| | Mirwood Soul Story Vol. 2 CD (2006) (Import) United Kingdom
Overnight Sensation
$16.65 Kent's follow-up volume to the well-received "Mirwood Story" upholds the high quality of its predecessor, with more sublime Northern Soul dance favourites from one of the most famous uptempo, uptown soul labels ever. Like the previous volume, it offers a potent mixture of the known, the semi-known and the previously unheard, including major US R&B hits from the Olympics and Jackie Lee, more girly group magic from Patrice Holloway's Belles, the Darlettes and the Mirettes, and exceedingly good big ballads from Bobby Garrett, JW Alexander and Jimmy Conwell - whose 'Second Hand Happiness' is a big "low rider" classic out in East LA right now. Highlights among the proven Northern classics on show include Bobby Lee Timberlake's vinyl rarity 'You Hurt Me', the Belles' originally-unissued 'Let Me Do It' and 'Cigarette Ashes', the storming instrumental track to Jimmy "Richard Temple" Conwell's 'That Beatin' Rhythm' that broke the record price for a soul 45 in the mid 70s.
Liner Note Author: Ady Croasdell. Arrangers: Fred Hill; Rene Hall. The second volume of '60s soul from this Los Angeles label offers two dozen sides, most of them from mid-'60s singles, though there are a few later tracks and previously unissued cuts and mixes. It might have been based in L.A., but for much of the time, Mirwood sure seemed to be trying to create a vibraphone-heavy facsimile of the Motown sound. They were hardly alone in that category, of course, but it does make much of ...
