"Bullet Train" was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Once Rob Halford left in the early '90s, Judas Priest was thrown for a bit of a loop -- it took them seven years to decided to have another stab at success. The remaining Priests hired the menacingly-named young gun Ripper Owens as a vocalist and recorded Jugulator as their comeback album. Surprisingly, it's a thoroughly solid affair. Owens is no Halford -- he simply doesn't have the presence, charisma or boneheaded wit -- but the group sounds hard, muscular and heavy and guitarists KK Downing and Glenn Tipton spit out riffs and solos at a blinding rate, sounding as good as they ever did. Judas Priest doesn't have anything new to say on Jugulator, but fans should be pleased to know that they're finally re-stating their familiar themes with some style and authority. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

best Priest album I have been a priest fan for almost 30 years and like every album. I didn't buy this one for two years after it was released, just because I to was caught up in the "it's not priest without halford" bull.
Tipton really came up and wrote some excellent music and Tim scorched the singing. You have to listen to it for what it is not what it isn't.
Sure, sure it isn't the same but what I look for in an older band is change otherwise they would be the Stones, Aerosmith or heaven forbid, Rush.
It's to bad they dumped Tim for Halford again, it was nice looking forward to two releases from great acts! Submitted by crunch (rural retreat, va, usa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Jugulator album
$9.99 The most booty-kickin' spoof Metal group to come down the pike since Spinal Tap is Steel Dragon, the Mark Wahlberg-fronted hair band in the film ROCK STAR. Along with other '80s metal tracks and modern tunes, this soundtrack makes for a great listen.
ROCK STAR is based on Tim "Ripper" Owens, who left his Judas Priest cover band to join the real thing. The cover band in the film is Blood Pollution, who give us the catchy, hard-rocking "Wasted Generation." Steel Dragon does a full-throttle cover of Rainbow's "Long Live Rock And Roll" that retains the spirit of the original. Steel Dragon's original tunes such as "Livin' the Life" and "Stand Up" are straight out of 1987, with the screaming vocals and crunchy guitar riffs that made the era so much fun. Real-life metal anthems like Kiss's "Lick ...
| | Badlands Dusk CD (1999) (Import) Japan; Germany
Jugulator CD music
$22.05 DUSK is a 10-track release by metal group Badlands, featuring the tracks "Healer," "Sun Red Moon," and "Fire Lasts Forever."
Dusk is Badlands's third and final album. It was originally recorded in 1992-1993 as a demo to submit to their label. In an interview on the Racer X site, Jeff Martin talks about Dusk: Dusk, or the tunes put on the album, were intended as demos for the next Badlands album after Voo Doo Hwy. We had worked up that group of tunes at rehearsals at Mates in North Hollywood two months before recording them at Good Night L.A by a friend of Ray's, Shea Baby. It's all 24 track full studio recording, but we did it all in less than 6 to 8 hours. We put the Mic's up, made sure they worked and Go! We recorded them primarily for Atlantic Records to hear and give us a budget for the full recording of the same tunes, if they liked what we had. They did not like the direction of the songs, for whatever the reason. Some months later we were dropped from Atlantic. At the time we were happy with that outcome and so was the Management, being that Atlantic was not doing anything for us anyway. We shopped new prospects. Almost every song was one-take recordings. I remember having floor Tom mic problems where we stopped to fix it, then restarted a song. But all in all, one takes. Even some endings were a little funky on my end, but Jake just flagged it off and we go to the next tune. I think Jake is the only one who did not make one mistake...if he did I did not hear it. Ray had about 50% of his lyrics together. The rest were what he called Jib-A-Jab. He would put a word or two on the front of a line and rest were all vowels. He was amazing at it, and most folks never could tell the difference. ...

| | Cheryl L Gleason Holiday & Seasonal Charmers: 29 Original Songs For Early Childhood CD (2010)
Jugulator songs
$19.15 I've written these songs out of necessity. It's difficult to find songs that are appealing to young children that are also easy for them to sing. I've kept the vocal range small and used head voice in recording the vocals to foster good singing habits. The repetition of words and melodic/rhythmic phrases help children match pitches and gain confidence in singing. Many of my preschool music students and their parents have asked "when can we get a recording of your songs - my child is still singing the Christmas songs we did at the last program, and it's April"! Now, 29 of them are available on this album, 21 are available on my album, "Charmers for Children" and 30 more songs are on "More Charmers for Children". As a past public school music teacher, I can attest to the fact that there are a lot of entertaining albums out there for young children, but not many exist that are written from a music teacher's perspective. The young child needs to hear ...
