Motorhead: Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, bass); Phil "The Zoomster" Campbell (guitar); Mikkey Dee (drums). Additional personnel: Bill Bergman (saxophone); John Paroulo (piano). Recorded at Cherokee Studios, Hollywood, California. Metal bands are supposed to lose their energy and power as they age, but Motörhead stubbornly refused to obey that rule, maintaining their string of tough, enjoyable albums into the mid-'90s. Sacrifice, the group's 1995 effort, doesn't offer anything new, nor does it display a newfound subtlety. It's just straight-ahead, breakneck fast, ear-shatteringly loud Motörhead, with buzzing guitars, near-martial rhythms, and surprisingly catchy hooks. There are a few weak moments scattered throughout the record, but on the whole it's a thoroughly engaging and entertaining record from one of the most consistent metal bands in history. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine 1995's SACRIFICE silenced any doubts that that Motorhead would mellow in their old age. After a brief, unsatisfactory tenure with a major label, Motorhead returned to an independent record company, CMC International, which was custom-built for elderly rockers. With alternative rock ruling the media, charts, and airwaves by the mid-1990s, Motorhead yet again refused to follow trends and stuck to their guns, issuing yet another set of turbo charged originals. You know what you're in for with such song titles as "War for War," "Sex and Death," "All Gone to Hell," and the album-opening title track. SACRIFICE proved once and for all that, like the cockroach, Motorhead could survive just about anything--famine, pestilence, line-up juggling, and switching record labels. Motorhead Sacrifice Songs Sacrifice Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) What more can you ask for? This is classic motorhead as its best, people keeps praising "ace of spades", "overkill" which are excellent albums of course, but this same people oversees most of the 90's motorhead releases ignoring what they are missing.Every song here is solid in music & lirics, no weak points, just pounding & raw rockn´roll-.
Listen well, Lemmy, M Dee & Phil will never let you down! try to understand the next equation MOTORHEAD = ROCK N'ROLL.

Solid but short. Great album-love every track on it.
The only problem is it's only 36 minutes long-so you just get into it and it ends.
Still a must-have for any serious metal fan though. If you've never heard Motorhead before this would be a good place to start. Submitted by Mark. (New York, U.S.A) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Sarifice? When you drink with the Devil, why would you ever need to give a Sacrifice? That one, I'll ask Lemmy in Hell, until then, I'll listen to this CD.-O Submitted by a reviewer (Sarnia, ON.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Motorhead Snake Bite Love CD (1998)
Sacrifice
$10.15 Audio Mixer: Mark Dearnley. Recording information: Valley. Unknown Contributor Roles: Lemmy; Mikkey Dee. No matter how many years the band toils on, Lemmy Kilmister refuses to change the basic hard and fast rules of Motörhead. Usually, that's a plus, since nothing quite compares to Motörhead roaring ahead at full blast, but occasionally it can result in an undistinguished album. Snake Bite Love is one of those. There isn't necessarily anything wrong with the record, as it offers a solid set of blistering, heavy rockers that race by at breakneck speed, but it doesn't add any new twists to the formula ...

Sacrifice
$10.15 10 Brand New Tracks For 2000 By Lemmy And The Boys
Motorhead: Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, bass); Phil Campbell (guitar, background vocals); Mikkey Dee (drums). Producers: Motorhead, Bob Kulick, Bruce Bouillet, Duane Barron. Recorded at Karo Studios, Brackel, Germany between June & August 1999. The '90s witnessed a surprising and somewhat overlooked renaissance for Lemmy Kilmister and Motörhead, starting with 1991's 1916. The follow-up, March or Die, was woefully subpar and overly commercial, and many dismissed 1916 as a fluke and gave the band up for dead. However, Motörhead then embarked on a run of quality albums for smaller, lower-profile labels; Bastards, Sacrifice, and Overnight Sensation were surprisingly consistent, written and performed with conviction in the classic Motörhead style. ...

| | Motorhead Inferno CD (2004) Enhanced CD
Sacrifice
$9.99 This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Motörhead: Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, guitar); Phil Campbell (guitar, background vocals); Mikkey Dee (drums). Additional personnel: Steve Vai (guitar). Like AC/DC, Motörhead rarely stray from their niche, crafting reliable records from a punk metal template that began in 1977 with their self-titled debut. Inferno is no exception, as the sum of its parts does little to deviate from the formula. Opening with the blistering "Terminal Show" -- marking the first of two appearances by guitar legend Steve Vai -- Lemmy, Philip, and Mikkey burn through 12 raucous blues-rock fist-pumpers with the energy of a trio of wily twentysomethings. Lemmy's gruff vocal style is ageless; as "f*ck you" now as it was on "Ace of Spades." All of the classic Motörhead themes are present; there's sticking-it-to-the-man ...

| | Foo Fighters One By One CD (2002) (Import) Bonus Tracks; Germany; Limited Edition
Sacrifice
$16.19 Limited edition German pressing of this Grammy-winning 2002 album by former Nirvana member Dave Grohl and his Foo fighting friends featuring six bonus tracks: 'Walking A Line,' 'Sister Europe,' 'Danny Says,' 'Life Of Illusion,' 'For All The Cows' (Live in Amsterdam), and 'Monkey Wrench' (Live in Australia). BMG.
Foo Fighters: Dave Grohl (vocals, guitar); Chris Shifflet (guitar); Nate Mendel (bass); Taylor Hawkins (drums). Recorded in Virginia. ONE BY ONE won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. "Times Like These" was nominated for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. "All My Life" won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. "All My Life" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. This limited edition of the 2002 release features six bonus tracks: "Walking a Line," "Sister Europe," "Danny Says," "Life of Illusion," "For all the Cows" (Live), and "Monkey Wrench" (Live). One by One is the most accomplished album Foo Fighters have made, which isn't necessarily the same as the best. Picking up the clean, focused sound and attitude of There Is Nothing Left to Lose, One by One is gleaming hard rock: it may have a shiny production, but hits hard in its rhythm and its impeccably distorted guitars. Dave Grohl's songs often express (or at least suggest) tortured emotions in their lyrics, but the album doesn't hit at a gut-level; it's too polished for that. It's not a bad thing, since the band is damn good and the production is more focused than any of the Foos' previous albums. The problem is, Grohl's songwriting has slipped slightly. It's still sturdy and melodic, yet not as immediate or memorable. Nothing is as majestic as "Learn to Fly," haunting as "Everlong," gut-crunching as "Monkey Wrench," or even as boneheadedly irresistible as their contribution to the Orange County soundtrack, "The One". Instead, it all fits together and sounds good as a piece, without offering individual moments to savor. Not the worst tradeoff, of course, but it's hard not to wish that the songs stuck in your head the way they used to, even if the album is still enjoyable as a whole. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine In between manning drums for the Queens Of The Stone Age album SONGS ...
