Audio Mixer: Mark Dearnley. Recording information: Valley. Unknown Contributor Roles: Lemmy; Mikkey Dee. No matter how many years the band toils on, Lemmy Kilmister refuses to change the basic hard and fast rules of Motörhead. Usually, that's a plus, since nothing quite compares to Motörhead roaring ahead at full blast, but occasionally it can result in an undistinguished album. Snake Bite Love is one of those. There isn't necessarily anything wrong with the record, as it offers a solid set of blistering, heavy rockers that race by at breakneck speed, but it doesn't add any new twists to the formula or have particularly memorable songs. Snake Bite Love sounds fine as it's playing, but very little of it leaves a lasting impression. Many members of the group's cult will probably find it worth a listen, but those who only like Motörhead's classic '70s and '80s output will find it a bit of a chore. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Motorhead's last 20th century studio release, 1998's SNAKE BITE LOVE, is cut from the same cigarette-burned, whiskey-soaked cloth as such classic latter-day releases as ORGASMATRON and OVERNIGHT SENSATION. If you were expecting Lemmy and his cohorts to suddenly shift musical gears and try something out of character, you were sadly mistaken. Motorhead had long perfected their garage metal sound, and offer another helping with SNAKE BITE LOVE. "Assassin" shows off drummer Mikkey Dee's underrated abilities behind the kit, while "Love for Sale," "Dogs of War," and "Don't Lie to Me" also prove to be metallic standouts. Although not quite in the same league as such early career monuments as OVERKILL or ACE OF SPADES, SNAKE BITE LOVE shows that Motorhead still has plenty of gas left in its tank. | | We Are Motorhead CD (2000)
Snake Bite Love
$10.15 10 Brand New Tracks For 2000 By Lemmy And The Boys
Motorhead: Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, bass); Phil Campbell (guitar, background vocals); Mikkey Dee (drums). Producers: Motorhead, Bob Kulick, Bruce Bouillet, Duane Barron. Recorded at Karo Studios, Brackel, Germany between June & August 1999. The '90s witnessed a surprising and somewhat overlooked renaissance for Lemmy Kilmister and Motörhead, starting with 1991's 1916. The follow-up, March or Die, was woefully subpar and overly commercial, and many dismissed 1916 as a fluke and gave the band up for dead. However, Motörhead then embarked on a run of quality albums for smaller, lower-profile labels; ...

| | Motorhead Rock 'N' Roll CD (1987) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Snake Bite Love
$10.15 . 2 Bonus Tracks
Motorhead: Lemmy Kilmeister (vocals, guitar); Wurzel, Phil Campbell (guitar, slide guitar, background vocals); Philthy "Animal" Taylor (drums). Additional personnel: Michael Palin (spoken vocals). Recorded in 1987. Includes liner notes by Stefan Chirazi. All tracks have been digitally remastered. You really don't need all that many Motörhead albums. Certainly, you need one with "Ace of Spades," and maybe "Overkill" and "Bomber." But do you need one with harmonies? Not really. And yes, that is slide guitar you can hear in the background. The best track on this so-so collection is "Eat the Rich," which accompanied the film of the same title in which Lemmy attempted to act. Now, this ...
| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Snake Bite Love
$6.39 The Corrs: Jim Corr (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Sharon Corr (vocals, violin); Andrea Corr (vocals, tin whistle); Caroline Corr (vocals, drums, bodhran, percussion). Recorded at Ardmore Studios in Dublin, Ireland in January 2002. You knew the Corrs had made it when they played the final JFK Awards ceremony of the Clinton administration. Playing it would have been achievement enough, but their status as a happening thing was cemented at the end of the ceremony, during the encores, when everybody was taking their final bows. Bill moseyed up over to Andrea, put his arm around her, and when she was looking away, sized her up -- at precisely the same moment Chuck Berry was checking her out. If that doesn't mean that you've broken America, entering its pop culture, I don't know what does, expect ...
| | King Diamond Them CD (1988) Remastered
Snake Bite Love
$14.99 King Diamond: King Diamond (vocals); Andy La Rocque, Pete Blakk (guitar); Hall Patino (bass); Mikkey Dee (drums). Additional personnel: Roberto Falcao (keyboards). Recorded at M.M.C. Studio, Copenhagen, Denmark. Following the incredible success of his second solo album, and first conceptual undertaking, Abigail, King Diamond set to work almost immediately on his next extravagant adventure in gothic storytelling with 1988's "Them." This time, he inserts himself among the story's characters, which also includes his mother, little sister, a haunted house (naturally), and, more unexpectedly, a batty old grandmother whose return from a long stay at the insane asylum (famously announced by "Welcome Home"'s borderline hilarious opening shrieks of "Grandmaaaa!!!") precipitates the supernatural acts of possession, murder, and madness that move this tale forward. Also worth noting are the new musical players who had joined the King Diamond band on this outing. After all, the replacement of guitarist Michael Denner and bassist Timi Hansen by Pete Blakk and Hal Patino, respectively, signaled the King's final break with his former band, Mercyful Fate. Tellingly, other than upping the overall camp factor ...

| | Floetry Floacism CD (2003) Bonus DVD
Snake Bite Love
$15.35 Floetry's new album, recorded live at the House of BLues in New Orleans on July 3rd, 2003. Also includes a bonus DVD of the show.
Includes a bonus DVD. Floetry: Marsha Ambrosius, Natalie Stewart (vocals). Additional personnel: Mos Def (rap vocals). Recorded live at The House Of Blues, New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 3, 2003. On the strength of 2002's Floetic, Floetry became the Bush of neo-soul -- an English act with most of its commercial success in the States. Though the critical reception was equally warm in both territories, Floetic hit the Top 20 of the Billboard album chart in the U.S., while it didn't perform nearly as well in the U.K. With the two-disc Floacism "Live", Floetry give their U.S. fans a gift of sorts, with a performance -- recorded at New Orleans' House of Blues -- that is provided in both CD and DVD format. The show has a lot of energy, but it's best experienced visually, although the live arrangements are competent enough. Discerning fans will be satiated somewhat by the three new studio recordings that open the set, including a fiery "Microphone Fiend"- sampling tune that features Mos Def. ~ Andy Kellman On the strength of 2002's Floetic, Floetry became the Bush of neo-soul -- an English act with most of its commercial success in the States. By watching the performance, your concentration can be diverted somewhat from the fact that Floetry sound a lot better in studio form. The live arrangements are competent enough, but they're not all that exceptional, ...
