Piano Romantico Vol. 1
$11.99 Digitally remastered by Bernie Grundman (Bernie Grundman Mastering).
Ever since their version of Bacharach-David song,"Close To You" hit the charts in 1970, the Carpenters have long seemed the epitome of anti-rock. Actually, Richard Carpenter revered the Beatles and Beach Boys just as much as Burt Bacharach. So there was more of a continuum with the '60s pop/rock tradition than appearances might suggest. Karen Carpenter is simply a singer of the first rank, comparable to pop divas like Patsy Cline and the Brazilian Elis Regina. On this classic (now remastered) singles collection, spanning hits from the early "Ticket To Ride" up until "Goodbye To Love," Karen's warm, sure voice, filled with an uncanny (and ...
| | Marvin Gaye Gold: Greatest Hits CD (2004)
Piano Romantico Vol. 1
$45.39 This generous two-disc compilation does an excellent job of tracing soul legend Marvin Gaye's career. It moves from his earliest, most pop-oriented recordings ("How Sweet It Is," "I'll Be Doggone") to his famed duets with Tammi Terrell ("Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing") and his later, more socially conscious work from the WHAT'S GOING ON era. Things kick off marvelously with the vibrant "Stubborn Kind of Fellow," where Marvin works his magic around sassy vocal assists from the Vandellas and a slightly Latin-tinged arrangement sporting flute and cowbell.
Other stops along the way include songs from the ultimate make-out album LET'S GET IT ON, the latter-day glory of the subtly sensual "Sexual Healing," and of course the immortal "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," the scorned-love anthem whose ominous intro alone is enough to secure Mr. Gaye a place in pop heaven. If you're interested in this R&B giant's music but just want one ...

| | Greylief Save Your Soul CD (2007)
Piano Romantico Vol. 1
$10.15 Greylief is a four piece band from Brecksville, Ohio thirteen miles south of Cleveland Ohio, arguably the home of Rock-N-Roll. The band was formed in mid 2005 when the Tuesday Night Metal Club was getting together for some fun jam secessions exploring original music. Drummer Tim Bartoszek and guitarist Ted Barrow's long time friend and guitarist playing together for the past15 years in many local Cleveland bands, meet up with bassist vocalist Pat Turle who was looking for a change from his past original projects and dedicated players to jam with and create music to record. Pat also had a longtime friend, guitarist Dave Kaman who had been playing the local circuit for the past ten years and this was the beginning of "The Tuesday Night Metal Club". We knew Ted and Dave would be a great guitar duo since both had years of experience in both cover bands and original bands, both having this uncanny way of gelling guitar sounds, arranging and composing songs is just what Pat and Tim were looking for to form a good solid line-up and have a chance at success. With Tim's recording studio at there disposal it would only be a matter of time before something good would happen. Well the guitar duo started to write a few songs and working on in progress works of Pat's, jamming, writing songs and experimenting with sounds & textures and the rest is history. Greylief has been honing there craft by writing songs about life's milestones, relationships, social problems, and personal growth. With soul-searching lyrics and the passionate voice of Pat Turle linked with driving bass lines and guitarists Dave Kaman and Ted Barrows intricate churning & burning rhythms and searing lead guitar textures there solos leave you simply astounded, as they are as hard hitting as they ...
