For fans of Jean-Michel Jarre, Chronologie contains more of Jarre's proven ability to blend familiar sounds in the New Music tradition into unusual, inventive compositions. The uninitiated will find Chronologie's blend of 19th Century classical musical themes with pop, rave and rap sounds downright danceable. Many of the pieces begin with a classical sound -- in one song it's deeply resonating pipe organ -- and almost invariably pick up the tempo quickly and slide right into a Gloria Estefan beat... ~ MusD Chronologie Music | List Price | $10.98 (You save $1.09) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Rock CDs, Jazz, R&B, Dance, Electronica, New Age | | Label | Dreyfus | | Orig Year | 1993 | | All Time Sales Rank | 19454 | | CD Universe Part number | 1078792 | | Catalog number | 36152 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Oct 22, 1993 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | Jean-Michel Jarre | | Engineer | Michel Geiss; Jean-Michel Jarre | | Recording Time | 42 minutes | | Personnel | Jean-Michel Jarre, Dominique Perrier, Patrick Rondat, Francis Rimbert, Michel Geiss | | Additional Info | France |

Chronologie
$16.55 NOTES Solo performer: Jean-Michel Jarre (sythesizer, Farfisa organ, Mellotron). Recorded from August to November 1976. Composer: Jean Michel Jarre. Personnel: Jean Michel Jarre (organ, Farfisa, Mellotron, keyboards, synthesizer). Audio Mixer: Jean-Pierre Janiaud. Liner Note Author: Scott Hull. Recording information: Jean-Michel Jarre Private Studio (08/1976-11/1976); Studio Prive De Jean Michel Jarre (08/1976-11/1976). Editors: Francis Dreyfus; Jean Michel Jarre. Photographer: Charlotte Rampling. Released in 1976, OXYGENE proved to be a massive hit for French electronic musician Jean-Michel Jarre. The son of film composer Maurice Jarre, the synthesizer player sought to create warmer sonic textures through the technology of the time, and the result was this pioneering six-part album. OXYGENE's bizarrely creepy cover, featuring a skull underneath the peeled-away surface of the globe, belies the music's lush beauty, though it does point to haunting moments such as "Oxygene III." The record's most recognizable track is the majestic "Oxygene IV," which features percolating synth lines and spare, nearly imperceptible beats. While the album would lead Jarre to international fame, especially in his native France and the rest of Europe, it also proved to be a recording that he struggled to top, even going so far as to release a sequel, OXYGENE 7-13, more than 20 years later. For aficionados of late-'70s electronic acts such as Tangerine Dream and Vangelis, this bold outing is essential. One of the pioneers of electronic music, Jean Michel Jarre has arguably done more to popularize the use of synthesizers than any other artist. Liberating synthesized sound from the esoteric preoccupations of academic composers, Jarre was among the first to explore the instrument's melodic and rhythmic possibilities--key innovations that went on to become significant influences for ambient electronica, synth pop, and techno. OXYGENE, released in 1977, pushed th

$16.55 Recorded at Jean-Michel Jarre's studio, Paris, France from January to August, 1978. Personnel: Jean Michel Jarre (organ, Mellotron, keyboards, synthesizer, ARP synthesizer, Oberheim synthesizer, vocoder, computer). Audio Mixer: Jean-Pierre Janiaud. Recording information: Jean Michel Jarre's Private Studio (01/1978-08/1978); Jean-Michel Jarre Priveate Studio (01/1978-08/1978); Studio Prive (01/1978-08/1978). Author: Scott Hull. Photographers: Charlotte Rampling; Helmut Newton. As the follow up album to Oxygene, Equinoxe offers the same mesmerizing affect, with rapid spinning sequencer washes and bubbling synthesizer portions all lilting back and forth to stardust scatterings of electronic pastiches. Using more than 13 different types of synthesizers, Jarre combines whirling soundscapes of multi-textured effects, passages, and sometimes suites to culminate interesting electronic atmospheres. Never repeating the same sounds twice, it is obvious that the science fiction hype of the late 70's played a large part in the making of this album. Computerized rhythms and keyboard-soaked ...

Chronologie
$9.89 Composer: Jean Michel Jarre. Personnel: Jean Michel Jarre (keyboards, synthesizer); Laurie Anderson (vocals); Adrian Belew (guitar, sound effects); Ira Siegel (guitar); Fredrick Rousseau (keyboards); Yogi Horton (drums). Audio Mixers: Rene Ameline ; Ron Saint Germain; David Lord. Liner Note Author: John Tobler. Recording information: Klinton Studio, New York, NY. Author: Scott Hull. On the first departure of his career since 1977's Oxygčne, Jean Michel Jarre combined an actual band and processed vocal samples -- recorded in 25 different languages -- with his rich, melodic synthesizer pop. The rhythm is often propelled by guttural vocal snippets, as on "Ethnicolor" and "Zoolookologie." That's not half as disconcerting for those used to his previous work as the album's art-funk backing: Adrian Belew on guitar, Marcus Miller on bass, and Yogi Horton on drums, plus Laurie Anderson on one track. Though Zoolook is interesting throughout, the tracks with Jarre alone are often the best, reprising the classic Oxygčne sound. ~ John Bush On the ...

Jean Michel Jarre, a countryman of Jacques Cousteau, composed and performed an e-music opus on honor of the oceanographer. En Attendant Cousteau is a departure from Jarre's usual format. | | John DuCann World's Not Big Enough CD (1999) (Import) United Kingdom
Chronologie
$23.65 Personnel includes: John Du Cann (vocals, guitar); Francis Rossi, Andy Brown, John McCoy. Recorded in 1977. Du Cann's shelved 1977 album includes the singles "Don't Be a Dummy," "Throw Him in Jail," and "Where's the Show!" It's peculiar, though not half-bad, power pop/new wave with a mainstream slant. Sometimes it exhibits a glammish, cheerfully snide attitude that isn't too far removed from an early-'70s Bowie influence. No doubt it's the kind of thing that will have the experts sniffing out whiffs of inauthenticity immediately (especially when ...
| | Rufus Reid Gait Keeper CD (2003)
Chronologie
$13.79 Live Recording
Personnel: Rufus Reid (bass); Rich Perry (tenor saxophone); Fred Hendrix (trumpet, flugelhorn); John Stetch (piano); Montez Coleman (drums). Recorded at Bennett Studios, Englewood, New Jersey in 2002. Includes liner notes by Lloyd Sachs. Personnel: Rich Perry (tenor saxophone); Montez Coleman (drums). Audio Mixer: Dave Kowalski. Liner Note Author: Rufus Reid. Recording information: 07/31/2002-08/01/2002. Photographer: Christopher Drukker. Rufus Reid has long been acknowledged as one of the first call bassists in jazz, but he has recorded sparingly as a leader, aside from three earlier dates for Sunnyside, two duo releases with bassist Michael Moore, and some jointly led sessions with drummer Akira Tana. This quintet date remedies this oversight, and also gives listeners an opportunity to explore Reid's work as a composer and arranger at a greater length. Reid is accompanied by an excellent group, which consists of tenor saxophonist Rich Perry, trumpeter and flugelhornist Fred Hendrix, pianist John Stetch, ...

| | C Daniel Boling He Dreams CD (2009)
Chronologie
$17.09 Daniel Boling has been a folksinger and songwriter here and there around the U.S. for over thirty years. He writes in a folk-influenced style and performs with finger-picked guitar and banjitar supporting a good, clear tenor voice. Daniel’s songs tell great stories that cover the spectrum from funny to heartbreaking and all the territory in between – songs of family life, love, friendship, and joys and sorrows along the way. He describes his music as “Family Friendly Folk”.Daniel’s 4th CD, He Dreams, was released in April 2009 and features 13 new original songs. The recording is sparse with an almost live feel, but very clean. A few friends lent their musical talents to some of the tracks including Jack Williams, Meredith Wilder, Jim Schwar, Jimmy Abraham, and Suzanne Shelton. His 3rd CD, The Old International, was released in June, 2003 and features a supporting cast of dear friends from the road including Bill Ward, T.R. Ritchie, Still on the Hill, Dave Nachmanoff, Susan Clark, Orrin Star and a few more. Along with his previous releases, Welcome Home in 2000 and Perfectly Stable in 1999, the album is enjoying air play in a variety of U.S. radio markets as well as in Europe.
