The diminutive French pianist Michel Petrucciani continues to display immense talent at the keyboard, but for a change, he's turned to another musician to arrange his original material. Seasoned arranger and superb trombonist Bob Brookmeyer makes a major contribution, adding very different shadings than the leader would have chosen. Rich unison lines flesh out "35 Seconds of Music and More," and Brookmeyer creates an especially melancholy mood for "Colors." An ominous introduction to "Training" dissolves later into a joyful bossa nova. This recommended CD also features trumpeter Flavio Boltro, saxophonist Stefano Di Battista, bassist Anthony Jackson and drummer Steve Gadd. ~ Ken Dryden
Recorded at Right Track Recording Studio, New York, New York from August 24-26, 1997. Includes liner notes by Thierry Peremarti.
Michel Petrucciani Sextet: Michel Petrucciani (piano); Stefano DiBattista (soprano & alto saxophones); Flavio Boltro (trumpet); Bob Brookmeyer (trombone); Anthony Jackson (bass); Steve Gadd (drums).

Both Worlds album
$38.49 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and ...

Both Worlds songs
$15.95 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten Trail (1969-1974) culls tracks from Poco's first eight albums, as well as unreleased cuts and singles. From the classic anthem "Pickin' Up the Pieces," which kicks things off, through "You Better Think Twice," "C'mon," "Kind Woman," "From the Inside," "A Good Feelin' to Know," "Crazy Eyes," and on ...
| | Eric Clapton Crossroads 2: Live In The Seventies CDs (1996)
Both Worlds album
$38.99 Recorded in the U.S. and the U.K. between May 1974 and December 28, 1978. Includes liner notes by John McDermott
Chock-full of blistering live performances drawn exclusively from the Tulsa-based band Clapton used during the "me" decade, CROSSROADS 2 is the antidote to his mostly laid-back, sleepy studio performances of the era.
With nearly 5 hours of music spread over 4 discs, CROSSROADS 2 never becomes redundant or too much of a good thing--a true testament to the power and fury of Clapton's excellent songs and fiery verve. Smoky vocals and truly inspired guitar workouts serve both his well-known hits and the sometimes obscure ...

By the time Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams recorded SORCERER in 1967, they were the most acclaimed ensemble in all of jazz. The Miles Davis Quintet had by this time perfected an intuitive style of collective improvisation that distilled the revolutionary changes of '60s jazz, but without rejecting elements of the mainstream ...

Both Worlds album
$10.09 Although Seattle will probably forever be musically identified with grunge, back in the early '80s, the area had its fair share of hardcore bands. Hardcore may have taken a back seat to grunge come the early to mid-'90s, but by the close of the decade, the chaps in Champion decided to resuscitate hardcore once more in the region. Over the course of four albums from 2000 through 2004, the group built a sizeable following -- especially locally -- and when they decided to call it day in early 2006, it was only fitting to end it all in their hometown, as a final sold-out show was recorded and filmed at the El ...
