Rap Reiplinger Poi Dog With Crabs Songs Poi Dog With Crabs Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Mo' Bettah You Speak Pidgin' If you are local Hawaiian you love this combo album of Rap nuttiness. Made for the local audience in mind, if you listen to it enough you'll eventually pick up some useful Hawaiian patois. Garans balbarans. POI DOG WITH CRABS is a composite of Rap Reiplinger's first Rap's first solo album without Booga Booga and winner of the 1979 Na Hoku Hanohano award for Best Comedy Album. Who can forget classic lines such as "Like sand in the BVDs, so are the lives of the Young Kanakas,"and "tell Fate Yanagi I love her, tell Fate Yanagi I need her, tell Fate Yanagi no go cry, and no go out with Mits Funai"? Politically incorrect but especially hilarious is the "Japanese Roll Call," which the late radio legend Hal "Aku" Lewis used to play every opening day of the Hawai'i state legislature.

| | Weird Al Yankovic Dare To Be Stupid CD (1985)
Poi Dog With Crabs music CDs
$7.59 Dare to Be Stupid begins with what is perhaps Weird Al Yankovic's best parody ever, the brilliant and cutting "Like a Surgeon." Turning the tacky Madonna hit inside out and upside down, Yankovic comes up with a hilarious satire of the medical profession. Although the implications were probably missed by the none too bright Madonna, and may not have even been intentional on the part of Yankovic, it was a rich idea to use his parody to ridicule a serious subject rather than just take another poke at junk food or game shows. The record's title track follows, and it is the best of Yankovic's original songs that had been recorded so far. Any song that begins with a request to put down your chain saw can't be all bad. One of the best tracks is the amazing medley "Hooked on Polkas" that concludes the album. Yankovic goes for broke here, his slick band barely keeping up with him as he drags all manner of hit parade schlock through the harmonic wringer washer known as the accordion. It's a hell of a trip, including references to Z.Z. Top as well as disco and punk rock, and accomplishes more musically in less than four minutes than an entire evening with the likes of Brave Combo. Rick Derringer put the whole production together expertly. ~ Eugene Chadbourne

| | Jerky Boys CD (1993)
Poi Dog With Crabs music CDs
$12.95 Tapes of the Jerky Boys, three guys from Queens, New York who make outrageous prank phone calls to doctors, lawyers, salesmen, plumbers and helpless receptionists, circulated for years in the music underground before they finally made their way on to a record. To do that, they had to call all their victims and get permission to use their voices, but the implied cooperation doesn't take away from the viciousness or the hilarity of these routines. Permissions were, after all, granted after the fact.
The most amazing thing about the debut album, besides the fact that the victims would let these conversations be recorded for posterity, is how long they stayed on the phone in the first place. In the role of the Egyptian Magician, one of the Jerkys calls up a nightclub manager and tells her, in a bad accent, that what he does is "stab customer in eye with sabre" ("uh-huh," she says), "sick my cat on my performers and they maul them" ("wow") and so on. "In my country...," he says, and she ...
