Rhythm Of The Ocean songs
$9.69 Every Sunday, venerable chef Chu (Sihung Lung) prepares an elaborate dinner for his three lovely daughters. Despite Chu's exotic dishes, the family barely nibbles at the food. The listless mealtime ritual mirrors the foursome's general lack of appetite for life: Chu has lost his sense of taste, and his daughters just want to go on with their separate, lonely lives. But something new is cooking that is about to spice up everyone's existence, and three marriages and a funeral later, the Chu family will learn to embrace life's unpredictabilty. The third and final film in director Ang Lee's Father Knows Best trilogy, EAT DRINK MAN WOMAN is laugh-out-loud funny in its depiction of the foibles of the contemporary Taiwanese family. Whenever one of the characters utters "I have an announcement," be prepared ...
| | Just Like Heaven CD (2005) Original Soundtrack
Rhythm Of The Ocean album
$7.59 Just Like Heaven is a fairly standard romantic comedy soundtrack, assembling a mix of classics, covers, and excerpts of Rolfe Kent's score. The covers range from good-natured singer/songwriterisms like Pete Yorn's "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" and Katie Melua's pretty, mellow version of the film's namesake (the Cure's original appears later, in all its jangly, bittersweet glory) to note-perfect, borderline-pointless renditions of "Jungle Fever" by Chakachas and "Bad Case of Lovin' You" by Emerson Hart. Bowling for Soup's cover of the Ghostbusters theme is notable mostly for how the band re-creates the original's cheesy synth tone exactly, while Kay Hanley's version of ...
| | Celtic Jazz Collective: Islinn (A Vision) CD (2001)
Rhythm Of The Ocean CD music
$14.29 Recorded between April 27, 1999 and May 23, 2000. Includes liner notes by David O'Rourke.
Given the popularity of Celtic music throughout the country, it was only a matter of time before an album dressing the Irish music in jazz garments would come along. Luckily for all, this task was an undertaking by sound musicians from both the jazz and Celtic sides. Guitarist David O'Rourke straddles the Irish and jazz fence. Paddy Keenan's bagpipes fit right in as he cleverly merges rhythms special to that instrument with those on the jazz side. On the medley "The Salamanca/The Banshee" his foil is Fintan O'Neill, and on "The Maid Behind the Bar/The Woman of the House" the drums of Lewis Nash. The lilting of the Irish reel is successfully stirred in ...

Watson, a Lawrence, Kansas-native who now is the Distinguished Professor of Jazz Studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, has a long and distinguished career as a performer, composer and educator. He has recorded over 90 albums, 26 as a leader, with some of the most recognizable names in jazz, including Wynton Marsalis, Max Roach, Joe Williams and Lou Rawls. Watson has numerous Grammy nominations under his belt as well. 'This CD is only the beginning of many good things to come from NSU Jazz. I have heard the band grow tremendously in just the one year of my association with the band under Arthur's ...
