I wanted the CD for track #14 Somewhere over the rainbow/beautiful world... I could listen to that song over and over and over again.. it never gets old.. the other tracks were a pleasant surprise also

Hawaiian Soul
Facing the Future is the album that made Israel Kamakawiwo'ole a superstar and legend among Hawaiians and Hawaiians at heart. His popularity in his native Hawaii was such that following his death in 1997 (at age 38, attributed to his profound obesity - he weighed over 700 pounds at one point), Kamakawiwo'ole's body lay in state in the state capitol, only the second person to receive such an honor. I bought this album for his medley of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World." This is by far the best rendition of these two songs (sorry Judy and Louie). It is a mixture of simplicity, soul, and joy and has been used in the TV commercials for eToys, and in the films "Meet Joe Black" and "Finding Forrester". Another soulful favorite of mine is the album opening "Hawai'i '78 Introduction" and ending "Hawai'i '78." These are reflections on his father's death and the passing of Hawaii's native culture.

Four Stars, Great album with the best rendition of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" pure voice. Great voice of one of Hawaiis best.
