Greensleeves' one-riddim series continued with volume 12, featuring the X-Treme riddim, created by In Streetz Records' Byron Murray and Clifford Smith. And it's an incendiary one, with three artists having already ridden this riddim onto 7": Mr. Vegas with "Duppy Durex," Buccaneer's "Balm the Dead," and Bounty Killer's "Liberty," with another 17 versions stuffed onto this set.
Capleton ferociously kicks off the comp, Mr. Vegas returns to give a big up to the new generation of dancehall heroes and a shoutout to the old, but then Elephant Man stomps all over that feel-good atmosphere, spewing his prejudice on "Bumber Claat." Gay-bashing is now all the rage, and so he's joined later in the set with an equally offensive G. Man and Alizade, whose "Rated PG" obviously somehow escaped the censors virtually unscathed. 2006 release by this highly respected bassist/producer/writer and some of his musician friends. Most of the tracks on this album were recorded live in small clubs in the 90's and the majority were recorded at Blues West 14, a small basement club in Kensington, Features Foster alongside Gary Husband, Ray Russell, Simon Chamberlain, Nick Brown and others.. Angel Air. 2006.
In the first half of the '90s, Mo Foster was dragged off to a small supper club in Kensington, London, and found himself a home. Here the bassist, guitarist Ray Russell. and pianists Simon Chamberlain and Dave Hartley, along with other musician friends, worked live on new pieces, a clutch of which evolved into Foster's Time to Think album. Foster taped these gigs, as well as those performed at other small venues, eventually going back to them and discovering a group worthy of recording; with some additions, of course. Initially, none of the pieces featured drums, which were subsequently overdubbed. Foster himself annotates each of the songs and discusses the album itself within the sleeve notes.
