| | Danny Caron Good Hands CD (2003)
Stepping On The Bridge CD music
$15.19 Danny Caron is a soulful and passionate guitarist who has played with some of the best musicians in America. His just released CD entitled "Good Hands" features some of the most soulful musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area including Jim Pugh from the Robert Cray Band on Hammond organ, Ron E. Beck from Tower of Power on drums, and two exquisite previously unreleased Charles Brown trio cuts with the legendary Charles Brown singing and playing piano, and Ruth Davies on bass.In addition you'll find some beautiful acoustic jazz cuts with John Wiitala (bass), Deszon Claiborne (drums), and John R Burr (piano) A couple of those are augmented by a burning horn section, with a few searing sax solos from Jeff Ervin and Charles McNeal."The tunes on this record are really homages to some of my favorite guitarists", says Caron. "Grant Green, Billy Butler, Johnny and Oscar Moore, Gatemouth Brown, T Bone Walker, and BB King - just to name a few of the obvious ones...I'm not trying to play like them-I never could-I'm just trying to thank them!" Originally out of Silver Spring, Maryland, Danny moved to Austin, Texas and cut his teeth on the Crawfish circuit playing with singer-pianist Marcia Ball. He then worked with Zydeco king Clifton Chenier and his Red Hot Louisiana Band with whom he recorded the Grammy Award winning Album I'm Here in 1980. Relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1981 he continued to freelance and eventually teamed up with the legendary singer and pianist Charles Brown. Danny served as guitarist and musical director for Charles Brown from 1987 until Brown's death in 1999. | | Billy Atwell DOS CD (2007)
Stepping On The Bridge CD music
$25.35 Ubiquitous drummer, avant composer and producer Billy Atwell presents this double CD of new works from 2006 ("Dos") and a bonus CD archiving film scores, commissioned compositions and compulsive sound art from 1998-2005. Nearly two hours of pure Atwellian non-silence. On the net:www.billyatwell.comwww.ampaudio.netFrom the liner notes by Daniel House (CEO of C/Z Records and former bassist of Seattle's Skin Yard):Having Billy Atwell ask me to write the liner notes for his new CD is both an immense honor and a seriously nerve-racking mind-fuck. An honor because I consider Billy a dear and meaningful friend; a mind-fuck (and an honor as well) because I consider him one of the most innately gifted composer/musicians that I have ever known, and it’s important to me that I find words that can do justice to the music that he’s created here.Let me first say that this is not quick-fix music. It is not obvious; there are no ‘vocals’ to speak of; it is definitely not what you would think of as pop. This is music with incredible depth, and requires dedication on the part of you – the dear listener – to dig in and really engage: it is not meant to exist in the background. These 35 tracks span a vast breadth of color and emotion, and is not easy stuff to pigeonhole. You need to listen to a number of tracks to fully begin to understand, and you owe it to yourself to do just that. What has always struck me about Billy’s compositions is how remarkably visual they are. This is music that belongs ...
