(4 Customer Reviews)
Since many of Da Yoopers' older albums are only available on cassette, For Diehards Only is a necessity. A disc-only compilation, the album features the band's biggest (and best) songs. All the hits are here, even the skits, making For Diehards Only a good introduction to their work. ~ Barry Weber Da Yoopers For Diehards Only Songs | 1. | Second Week of Deer Camp |

Devoted Butthole Surfers fans will argue the relative merits of the band's early albums, but all seem to be in agreement on the brilliance of HAIRWAY TO STEVEN. The album combines the sometimes harrowing freakishness of their debut and the sonic experimentation of LOCUST ABORTION TECHNICIAN with a glimpse of the accessibility ...
| | Shocking Blue At Home CD (1969) (Import) Germany
For Diehards Only songs
$22.35 American listeners tend to remember Shocking Blue as the one-hit wonder behind the chart-topper "Venus," a melting pot of rock rhythms, country guitar licks, organ riffs, and Mariska Veres' heavily accented vocals. Sounding something like a cross between "96 Tears" and "Sugar, Sugar," "Venus" was not entirely representative of the group's first album, At Home. Like their fellow countrymen Golden Earring, Shocking Blue purveyed a mild strain of psychedelic rock, but leaned more toward country and folk music than bubblegum. Guitarist and principal songwriter Robby Van Leeuwen was already preoccupied with Americana at this early stage, from "Harley Davidson" and "California Here I Come" to a surprising rendition of the folk song "Boll Weevil" that sets the traditional lyrics to music reminiscent of the Easybeats' "Good Times." (The group's country music fixation would manifest itself more overtly on later albums). Van Leeuwen's sitar is pictured on the album cover and dominates the instrumental "Acka Raga," but, thankfully, is not overused. "Mighty Joe" and "Never Marry a Railroad Man" were minor U.S. ...
| | Focus Live At The Rainbow CD (1973) (Import) Japan; 24 Bit Remastered; Limited Edition; Mini LP Sleeve
For Diehards Only album
$39.15 AT THE RAINBOW is a 1973 live document by Dutch prog-rockers Focus, including a two-part version of their hit single "Hocus Pocus."
The instrumental rockers of the early '70s never were any good at dulling down their musical expertise; and, indeed, it's only a matter of seconds into their first and only live release -- Live at the Rainbow -- until one realizes just how talented Focus were. Jan Akkerman, named "World's Best Guitarist" by Melody Maker in 1973 ahead of Eric Clapton and others, was amazingly on form in this performance. Thijs Van Leer, chief songwriter and performer in the band, showcased his talents on flute, vocals, and organ with unparalleled finesse. Bert Ruiter knocked out his basslines tight to Pierre Van Der Linden's drums, undoubtedly two of the finest players on their respective instruments. It would be so easy to go off on a tangent explaining the mastery that Focus had musically; suffice to say, however, the bands technical proficiency is rarely matched in the world of rock. Live at the Rainbow featured some of the band's best and most well known tracks: "Sylvia," "Hocus Pocus," "Focus II," and so on. Although much of the content sticks closely to its original studio form (12-minute tracks were regular on studio albums), with maybe an extra solo or two thrown in for good measure, a few songs host drastic changes. "Hocus Pocus," for example, is almost unrecognizable. This live version is multiple times faster than its studio counterpart -- those familiar ...

That is, when listening to it, associative thoughts start to develop, which a lot of times manifest themselves as images, pictures of landscapes, people, coming into existance in the mindĀ“s eye.Try to imagine a score, where voices are not just oriented at the coordinate plane of pitch and meter, but depending on meaning and intensity of playing, bulge into depth or constrict, creating āspace-timeā.
