| | L L Cool J All World CD L L Cool J Discography of CDs
(4 Customer Reviews)
LL Cool J is an unimpeachably important figure in the history of hip-hop. He has weathered all the trends and fashions in the rap world over the last decade. ALL WORLD is a long overdue greatest-hits collection that makes a strong case for LL as one of the most consistent and innovative figures in rap, pre-dating the Death Row crew and eschewing the pimp/gangsta image that has weighed down too many rap albums in the '90s.
The infectious groove of "Rock The Bells" sets the tone, finding LL rocking the mic with an inimitable authority. "I Need Love" changes the pace and shows his emotional range, with lyrics that show a romantic sensitivity uncommon among rappers. "Jingling Baby" and "The Boomin' System" showcase LL doing what he does best, creating a lively party atmosphere with irresistibly funky rhythm tracks. "Mama Said Knock You Out" makes it plain that LL is more than just a party boy, with a fierce, aggressive rap that sounds as fresh as the day it was released. This is an essential document of rap's past and present, and maybe even a hint of its future.

Spin (1/97, p.89) - "...From Rick Rubin ghetto blasts to his knockout, jingling Marley Marl resucitation to this year's lounge sexscapades, Todd Smith has kept the L.L. dream alive, with skills...and wondrous self-admiration..." Entertainment Weekly (12/20/96, p.76) - "One of rap's original B-Boys didn't survive on his charm or waggish vocal chops alone. As this relentlessly engaging hits package proves, he deftly segued from snarling boasts to cuddly come-ons, just as his tracks kept improving....An essential hip-hop collection..." - Rating: A L L Cool J All World Songs All World Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) wonderful collection this is a must have 4 any1 looing 4 the best of LL.im only 19 and i remember hearing these classics growing up thanks 2 my parents.if you dont have it i suggest you get it. This Album Was Awesome!! LL was just sick and now he goes and makes him self even sicker by putting all of his classics on one cd. For one these joints came out way back and the tracks just sound good in the system. If these tracks haven't been remastered then that's just good sound production. This is the best right here. It's got hits like going back to cali, I can't live without my radio, rock the bells, i need love, doin it, and so many more. So be a supporter and purchase it. 10/10! All World
$9.15 Attitude, the second album from the California quintet Troop, featured four charting singles. The first release, "I'm Not Soupped," is the least credible of the four. With the title's rather doltish connotation, the dance number still managed to peak ...

All World
$18.65 LIFE AFTER DEATH was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "Hypnotize" was nominated for a 1988 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. "Mo Money Mo Problems" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.
The double-CD LIFE AFTER DEATH arrives in stores, ironically and tragically, less than three weeks after the Notorious B.I.G. was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. Biggie Smalls, as he was known, quickly became one of rap's most respected MCs after the 1994 release of his debut album, READY TO DIE. His music sparked the comeback of East Coast hip-hop, while his very being added fire to rap's over-publicized East-West rivalry. For some (see "Playa Hater"), Biggie's success was too much to handle, and he became a primary target in hip-hop's continuing feud. Never feeding into that war on wax, B.I.G. chose ...
| | Sergio Salvatore Point Of Presence CD (1997)
All World
$12.59 Sergio Salvatore has the odd fortune of resembling child actor Fred Savage from TV's "The Wonder Years, " and that could have plagued the public's openmindedness towards taking him seriously as a major jazz talent, rather than just a cute novelty. Fortunately, deep talent has won out and the prodigy, now a teenager, has bloomed into a multi-faceted composer/performer. A true product of the 90's, he not only named his shift towards contemporary pop/funk oriented jazz after an internet term (Point of Presence being the point from which one leaps onto the world wide web), but he's ...
