Taj Mahal is one of the significant figures in post-1950s blues, but his sense of playful experimentation always pushes at the boundaries of the genre. GIANT STEP is one of his classics, featuring the singer/guitarist's inimitable gravelly vocals on a range of tunes that mix rural and electric blues, country, and rock. Whether on the trucker anthem "Six Days on the Road," the rollicking "Good Morning Little School Girl," or gems from the blues canon, including covers of Blind Willie Johnson's "You're Gonna Need Somebody on Your Bond" and Leadbelly's "Keep Your Hands Off Her," Taj Mahal is in great form here. In addition, his fine electric backing band lends sass and muscle.
This package also includes the completely acoustic DE OLE FOLKS AT HOME. As front-porch as GIANT STEP is smoky-nightclub, DE OLE FOLKS is a solo showcase, featuring a cappella numbers and tunes on which Taj Mahal accompanies himself on guitar, harmonica, and banjo. The repertoire is decidedly old-school, with work-songs ("Linin' Track"), classic story-songs ("Stagger Lee"), and covers of songs by Mississippi John Hurt ("Candy Man") and Henry Thomas ("Fishin' Blues"). With its excellent sound, this two-for-one disc is an ideal place to start exploring the work of this versatile musician.

$9.35 Loudmouthkitten is a four piece rock group from Miami, Florida. Their music is a fun blend of rock, pop, punk and energetic blends of independent rock. The diversity in the music makes for wide variety for the listener. The group is headed up by the song writing duo Brooke Bartlett (vocals), recent graduate from New World School of the Performing Arts, and John Thomas (guitar) two time Grammy winner. The rhythm section consists of Glenn Wexo on drums and Pauly C on bass. These two players solidify the foundation of the loudmouthkitten sound. Loudmouthkitten has only been on the scene since July of 2003, and has created a substantial following in Miami and is constantly writing and making demos at their home studio. The live shows are energetic and create the atmosphere of just having fun. The band has a good time on stage and it reflects well into the audience. Brooke’s powerful soulful vocals lend itself to a fresh sound combined with the rock guitars and pop styles of the rhythm section. Together this groups’ diversity is an exciting combination. Loudmouthkitten has been playing at the following clubs continuing to build their fan base:HARD ROCK CAFÉ,THE PLAYWRIGHT PUB,TOBACCO ROAD,CHURCHILL'S PUB,LOST AND FOUND ORLANDO,SOHO LOUNGE,SENOR FROG'S,AUTOMATIC SLIM'S,THE FACTORYThese are some reviews from garage band .com“Don’t Bug Me”Very Hives feel.... I like the oldschool punk meets alternative rock feel. The female vocals are super sexy and tight. I dig the guitar progression a lot. The mix is just about perfect. I really liked the solo! HOLY PERFECT LENGTH, BATMAN!! This song screams put me on the radio and make me a soundtrack. Good work guys, and keep up the great songwriting! Reviewed by: jonpatrick ...
