First Songs album for sale by Laura Nyro was released Jan 02, 2001 on the Columbia label. Although not released under this title until 1973, these 12 songs were recorded by Laura Nyro in 1966, when the singer-songwriter was an unknown 20-year-old from the suburbs of New York City. First Songs buy CD music Verve/Forecast released these songs at the time as MORE THAN A NEW DISCOVERY, but that album disappeared almost immediately on release. Although there's certainly a pop sensibility to songs like "Wedding Bell Blues," Nyro's vocal style is strictly out of the jazz and gospel tradition. Simply her first and best
These are Laura's first songs and every one of them is wonderful; many were covered by the 5th Dimension, Barbra Streisand, Traffic, and Blood, Sweat & Tears.

Great stuff;absolutely love it,many of her biggest hits.More than worth it if only for "Flim Flam man" and "Wedding day blues".
