2 LPs on 1 CD. Blue Oyster Cult: Eric Bloom (vocals, stun guitar, synthesizer); Albert Bouchard (vocals, guitar, drums); Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (vocals, guitar); Joe Bouchard (vocals, bass); Allan Lanier (guitar, keyboards). Engineers include: Kurt Kuntzel, Aaron Baron, Tim Geelan. Recorded live at Academy Of Music, New York, New York; Paramount Theatre, Portland, Oregon; Paramount Theatre, Seattle, Washington; Show Palace, Phoenix, Arizona; Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, California; P.N.E. Coliseum, Vancouver, British Columbia. Blue Öyster Cult's first live album was also its first to peak inside the Top 40, which is more of an indication of the audience the group was building up through extensive touring than of its quality. Songs that had a tight, concentrated impact on studio albums got elongated here, and that impact was dissipated. And the song selection left a great deal to be desired if this were to be a fitting summation of the band's career so far. By its 1974 tour, BÖC had dropped some classics from its first album, and the less impressive material from the third album was no substitute. ~ William Ruhlmann On Your Feet Or On Your Knees, Blue Öyster Cult's first live album (there would be two more), was also its first to peak inside the Top 40 best-sellers, which is more of an indication of the audience the group was building up through extensive touring than of its quality. Songs that had a tight, concentrated impact on studio albums got elongated here, and that impact was dissipated. And the song selection left a great deal to be desired if this were to be a fitting summation of the band's career so far. Perhaps by its 1974 tour, BOC had dropped such classics from its first album as "Transmaniacon MC," "I'm on the Lamb but I Ain't No Sheep," and "Stairway to the Stars," but the less impressive material from the third album was no substitute. (The album did mark the first commercial release of a version of "Buck's Boogie" as well as covers of The Yardbirds' "I Ain't Got You" and Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild.") ~ William Ruhlmann Throughout its first three studio albums, Blue Oyster Cult merged intelligently written lyrics shaded with dark occult and sci-fi imagery with a crunching attack, which helped generate comparisons to Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. As good as these records were, playing live was what BOC truly excelled in thanks to extensive touring. Backing up this assertion is the band's first live album, ON YOUR FEET OR ON YOUR KNEES. Although the band was still a year away from its first crossover hit, this live collection was its first album to crack the Top 40. Powered by the duel guitars of Eric Bloom and Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, the band included extended versions of epics from the then-recent SECRET TREATIES ("Subhuman," "Me 262") and the prior TYRANNY AND MUTATION ("Seven Screaming Diz Busters"). Other highlights include a great version of "Cities on Flame" (the band's first official single) and "Buck's Boogie," a Roeser instrumental showcase previously available on the ultra-rare 1972 EP LIVE BOOTLEG. The inclusion of crunching covers by Steppenwolf ("Born to Be Wild") and Jimmy Reed ("Maserati GT," a.k.a. "I Ain't Got You") round out what is considered by many to be the first phase of Blue Oyster Cult's career. Blue Oyster Cult On Your Feet Or On Your Knees Songs On Your Feet Or On Your Knees Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews One of the best Live albums of the 70's If you do not yet own this disc, go out & get it at once. This is BY FAR the BEST BOC live album, and it truly ranks up there with some of the classics such as "Live in Japan" by Deep Purple, "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out" by The Rolling Stones & "Live at Leeds" by The Who. This was also the first album I heard by BOC when I was in h.s. during the 70's & it hooked me for life. My personal favorites are the spacey synth arrangement on "Last Days of May," as well as the screeching guitar/synth solos on "Harvester of Eyes" & "Seven Screaming Diz-busters." These are guaranteed to send shivers down your spine....check it out!! Submitted by Robert Sienko (Chicago, IL USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Good honest rock and roll At last after many years of trying in the UK, a copy to replace my old vinyl one. Despite digital mastering it still has that gritty slightly rough 'live' quality. At the height of their powers BOC produced a landmark album and a must have for any r n r fans. This is what the music scene needs today, 8 minute tracks, guitar and drum solos. Even after 30 years it still recalls days spent with your head sandwiched between speakers. Go get! Submitted by ratfink930 (Leicester, England, UK) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

On Your Feet Or On Your Knees
$18.95 Association P.C.: Jeremy Steig (flute, bass flute, piccolo); Toto Blanke (guitar); Joachim Kühn (Fender Rhodes piano); Sigi Busch (bass instrument); Pierre Courbois (drums, percussion). This free-jazz set features the 1970s Dutch group Association P.C. performing with the percussionist Pierre Courbois and the flautist Jeremy Steig. The ensemble plays a freewheeling set that uses traditional jazz structure as much as avant-garde music as a launching pad for its often thrilling explorations. Steig shines on the lyrical flute and keyboard duet "Bold `N Steig," "Ecnelis" is a free-for-all funk outing, and the playful "Serpentine" features some magically empathetic improvising. Mama Kuku is the fifth and final Association P.C. recording (they were originally known as Association Earwax for two albums, and inexplicably changed their name). Led by guitarist Toto Blanke, this German supergroup stood outside the Krautrock and psychedelic camps and played their own fiery, non-academic brand of prog rock and jazz-rock fusion. The first half of this recording was performed at the Arkandenhof in June of 1973, and the final half, "Lausanne," at the Radio Suisse Romande during the same month. The legendary Conny Planck engineered the German gig, while Jean-Claud Blanc, Raymond Bernard, and Jean-Pierre Molliet handled ...
