Look Into The Future album for sale Product Description

Look Into The Future album for sale by Journey was released Jan 24, 1989 on the Columbia label. Unlike most other prog-rock outfits of the mid-'70s, Journey was penning songs that could be both complex and accessible to pop/rock fans. The quartet's second release, 1976's LOOK INTO THE FUTURE, was for the most part a continuation of its debut release a year earlier, but had more of a mainstream rock edge. With each successive release, Journey was inching closer and closer to its best known arena-rock style of the late-'70s/early-'80s. Look Into The Future CD music contains a single disc with 8 songs.   ...See Full Description

all-star musicians achieve brilliant synergy
I bought the album after I saw them live at The Electric Ballroom (or maybe it was the Agora then). My best friend heard a cut on the radio and called me the day of the show. We decided to give them a try, but we hedged by bringing notes from our college classes, just in case. The perfomance was beyond riveting. It was into the blow the top of your head off zone. "On A Saturday Night" and "Look Into the Future" were amazing, but "Your On Your Own" might have been the most mind blowing performance I have ever witnessed. I immediately went out and bought this album. The album is excellent. I only wish it had some of the extended versions I had witnessed live, especially "Your On Your Own". It's just sad that the pinnacle musicianship you hear on this album didn't connect with the "lowest common denominator" masses. When Ross Valory and Greg Rollie left, and Steve Perry arrived, Journey became a watered down pop version of the brilliant group they once were. I guess it's hard to buy groceries with brilliance though.

Overlooked Album
Lost in the hoopla of Journey's later commercial success is the fact that even before the arrival of Steve Perry, Journey was already a very accomplished band. Gregg Rolie's warm and resonant vocals wash over the listener. His songwriting contributions-very strong. Neal Schon is given a little more room to explore his guitar prowess on this release. Nothing against the later releases but this record concentrates more on songwriting than hit making. Songs of note include "On a Saturday Night" and the title track "Look Into The Future" This album is probably better appreciated by musicians than the casual Top 40 listener. At this price, this CD should be included in your collection.

Smokin' Tunes from a good 4 men band
I saw Journey touring in '77 they were backing up REO Speedwagon. Great 70's rock, great band. This is not the Journey of '78 and on. These guys could ROCK! This was my first cd from CD Universe, and I will continue to buy more. I was completely satisfied with the price, quality of the cd, and the quickness it took to get here.

The real Journy
In my opinion they should have changed their name when Rollie left and Perry joined. They are not the same Band. If you like Steve Perry and enjoy singing along to his music then stay far away from these first two titles. I am among the the group who loved the first two titles and think Perry Neutered this instrument orented Rock Band. I have seen them twice before the departure of everyone (except Neil). If you like 70's style Rock then you will love this title.

Look Into the Future
I bought this album many years ago on vinyl. The guitar work by Schonn is excellent as is Rollie's keyboard work. Some of the lyrics are a bit hard to understand though, which is my only real fault with the album. Many of the songs have a theme of "the man" triumphing over or dominating "the woman", but not in a violent way like much of today's rap music. If you buy this album, don't expect Steve Perry style Journey. Greg Rollie's songwriting has a lot of influence from his days with Santana in my opinion. I love this album and although the group is not musically mature, I still enjoy listening to it very much.
