Feted by heavy metal fans, this was a much broader album that put them in touch with AOR radio, and consequently took them out of their heavy rock ghetto. The ace in their tarot pack was the entrancing and enchanting "Don't Fear The Reaper" - the greatest song that the original Byrds never wrote. Flowing and chiming it put the band in the pop charts with a song of rare quality and consequently pushed this album's sales. The other tracks struggle to compete with the Reaper, but there are moments, especially with "The Revenge Of Vera Gemini," on which Patti Smith narrates.

Blue Oyster Cult Agents Of Fortune Songs Agents Of Fortune Music Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Great album; improved sound This was BOC's breakthrough album with "Don't Fear the Reaper" as it's most famous track. Buck Dharma's demo version of the same song is also included as a bonus track. Another neat bonus track is the 'original' demo version of "Fire of Unknown Origin". Nice booklet with commentary by Lenny Kaye and lyrics & photos too! Submitted by jmf (North York, ON Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
agents of fortune after 3 black and white albums that represented blue oyster cult and the dark rock and roll that followed. the gang created the live album for the secret treaties tour called on your feet or on your knees. then came agents of fortune. this ain't the summer of love is like the anti-60's song then came true confessions which sounds like chicago and then came the ultimate staple of which it was used in guitar hero and rock band and the saturday night live skit, the reaper. extraterrestrial intelligence is awsome with the cosmic laser sound effects and vera gemini which patti smith did the vocals is a dark track with joe on vocals.next came sinful love, tattoo vampire, morning final, tenderloin and debbie denise. all the songs have a mix of metal with groove and melody and tasty electric guitar solos. fans of old blue oyster cult liked agents others did not but who am i to complian? i still liked it. check out the some enchanted evening reissue witht he dvd of a concert with the unheard 5 guitars. Don't fear the Reaper This album was definatly one of hard rock's most debated albums. The songs on this album are dark , and mysterious. I still have not figured out what thus whole album is about. I can say one thing BOC is not a satanic band. Submitted by will (Washington, NC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Seasons Don't Fear the BOC Agents of Fortune is the benchmark album in metal history since Led Zeppelin 4. All these songs are great, and the international hit (Don't Fear) The Reaper is something all rock fans should worship. Submitted by brian12 (Kishinev, Moldova) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Blue Oyster Cult Declare Their Independence, And Do Great AGENTS OF FORTUNE brought about a shift in the balance of power away from managers/writers Sandy Pearlman, Murray Krugman, and Richard Meltzer, and showed the band writing more material on their own. The result is one of their best albums ever. "This Ain't The Summer Of Love", "Don't Fear The Reaper", and "E.T.I." are the best-known songs here, but this CD contains other gems, too. Agents Of Fortune album
$18.19 We brothers, broken and redeemed, seek not to be exalted, exalting only the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Through music, the language of the soul, we offer finely crafted and bold songs to connect with the broken and seeking. In us they see what they seek: delight in the Lord, embracing His promise, and joy in this gift of life. They see our love for God, Christ and each other. Our music, conduct and presence represent Christ in the world.Mike McKeown, vocals and guitar, is a gifted singer/songwriter, starting out as a solo pub circuit singer then fronting the classic rock cover band, Pound for Pound, in Dallas. Moving to Austin in 1989, Mike started the bands 14 Bones and Mayan Bike to showcase his original material. He is known as a powerful singer of rock, contemporary sacred, folk and classical music; touching hearts and raising spirits wherever he performs. 'Off the Chain' is Mike's third recording project, following 1996's 'Spoke' with Mayan Bike and 2004's 'Marley's Ghost' with Hilary Kaufman-Smith. Mike moved to the Texas Hill Country in 2005 and recommitted his musical gifts to God. In addition to Cross Over, Mike is a member and tenor soloist for the First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir in Marble Falls, Texas, and in demand as a singer at special events. By continuing to say 'yes' to every opportunity to sing or play as called, Mike met his band mates. In January of 2008 Cross Over gathered for the first time and quickly realized the powerful synergy they generated. Mike is married to Luciana and has two children. Joe Frantz, guitar and vocals, has generations of music talent in his blood, from his father and grandfather's combined 100 years playing classical French horn to his mother's lively Arkansas Baptist Church piano-playing roots. Joe has played acoustic, electric, and pedal steel guitars in various rock and country bands since college. He is a regular Praise and Worship leader at the First United Methodist Church, in Marble Falls, Texas and has performed in various community plays. Joe is married to Deborah and has four children. His heaven on earth is found in his daily prayers and his called ministry of rockin' praise. Reverend Mike Morris, vocals and keyboard, started playing drums in 4th grade with a set of twins and another school pal. He came from a musical family; ...
| | Antonio Carlos Jobim Stone Flower CD (1970) Japan; Super-High Material
Agents Of Fortune CD music
$34.50 Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio (Sony Music Studios, New York, New York).
Recorded in 1970 at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in New Jersey under the production auspices of Creed Taylor, the arrangement and conducting skills of Deodato, and the engineering expertise of Van Gelder himself, Jobim's Stone Flower is quite simply one of his most quietly stunning works -- and certainly the high point of his time at Columbia. Nearly a decade after the paint peeled from the shine of bossa nova's domination of both the pop and jazz charts in the early '60s, Creed Taylor brought Jobim's tender hush of the bossa sound back into the limelight. With a band that included both Jobim and Deodato on guitars (Jobim also plays piano and sings in a couple of spots), Ron Carter on bass, Joao Palma on drums, Airto Moreira and Everaldo Ferreira on percussion, Urbie Green on trombone, Joe Farrell on soprano saxophone, and Harry Lookofsky laying down a soulful violin solo on the title track, Jobim created his own version of Kind of Blue. The set opens with the low, simmering "Tereza My Love," with its hushed, elongated trombone lines and shifting acoustic guitars floating on the evening breeze. It begins intimate and ends with a closeness that is almost uncomfortably sensual, even for bossa nova. And then there are the slippery piano melodies Jobim lets roll off his fingers against a backdrop of gauzy strings and syncopated rhythms in both "Choro" and "Brazil." The latter is a samba tune with a sprightly ...
