Producers: Lew Futterman, Cliff Davies, Tom Werman. Weekend Warriors, Ted Nugent's follow-up to the career peaks of Cat Scratch Fever and Double Live Gonzo, isn't quite as strong as his two previous albums, but it remains one of his better albums, featuring a handful of prime hard rockers. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Despite some line-up shake-ups, Ted Nugent returned after the one-two punch of his back-to-back most successful albums, CAT SCRATCH FEVER and DOUBLE LIVE GONZO, with another big hit--1978's WEEKEND WARRIORS. As you can tell by the album cover art, the music contained within is unabashedly Ted, complete with bile-spitting vocals and rip roaring guitar work. Although the album was a success, it contains few songs that have become concert or radio standards. However, while there's not an immediate hitting anthem like "Cat Scratch Fever" or "Free For All," it's hard to not be impressed by the sheer viciousness of such cuts as "Weekend Warrior," "Venom Soup," and "Need You Bad." Ted Nugent Is A Rock God!!!!! This goes out to Jim from Wayne, NJ from the previous review (below me). You speak like people actually care about your opinion on Ted. He is a hardcore REPUBLICAN that believes in conserving WILDLIFE, our CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, and MUSIC. It's simple minded liberals, like yourself, that don't appreciate the morals and necessities of music, family, life (in general) and politics, not including religion. So, you my friend, are the BIBLE THUMPER!!! This album, like all of Ted's albums, are all a must have for ANY REAL rock & metal fan!!! Man up and keep the spirit wild everybody. Shut up liberal This is probably Nugent's last good album. That said, the previous poster from Indiana should stfu. I'd rather hear Ted's politics than any of the liberal morons in the entertainment industry. Nobody criticizes dumb-ass liberal musicians for voicing their opinions but conservatives like Ted get trashed. BS.

It's hard to know what to make of Eminem, even if you know that half of what he says is sincere and half is a put-on; the trick is realizing that there's truth in the joke, and vice versa. Many dismissed his considerable skills as a rapper and social satirist because the vulgarity and gross-out humor on The Slim Shady LP were too detailed for some to believe that it was anything but real. To Eminem's credit, he decided to exploit that confusion on his masterful second record, The Marshall Mathers LP. Eminem is all about blurring the distinction between reality and fiction, humor and horror, satire and documentary, so it makes perfect sense that The Marshall Mathers LP is no more or no less "real" than The Slim Shady LP. It is, however, a fairly brilliant expansion of his debut, turning his spare, menacing hip-hop into a hyper-surreal, wittily disturbing thrill ride. It's both funnier and darker than his debut, and Eminem's writing is so sharp and clever that the jokes cut as deeply as the explorations of his ruptured psyche. The production is nearly as evocative as the raps, with liquid basslines, stuttering rhythms, slight sound effects, and spacious soundscapes. There may not be overpowering hooks on every track, but the album works as a whole, always drawing the listener in. But, once you're in, Eminem doesn't care if you understand exactly where he's at, and he doesn't offer any apologies if you can't sort the fact from the fiction. As an artist, he's supposed to create his own world, and with ...

| | Saint Vitus V CD (1990)
Weekend Warriors
$11.99 This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Saint Vitus: Scott "Wino" Weinrich (vocals); Dave Chandler (guitar); Mark Adams (bass guitar); Armando Acosta (drums). Notable for being the final Saint Vitus studio album to feature vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich, as well as the band's first recorded for a label other than career-long home base SST, 1989's simply named V was, in most other respects, a typical effort by the long suffering doom metal icons. In other words, much like all of the band's similarly "against the grain" output, its post-Sabbath acid-doom dirges and fuss-free underground metal aesthetics held absolutely zero commercial potential ...
| | Pete Townshend All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes CD (1982) Remastered
Weekend Warriors
$12.65 Additional Tracks
Personnel: Pete Townshend (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Peter Hope-Evans (harmonica); Virginia Astley (piano); Chris Stainton (keyboards); John Lewis (Fairlight CMI); Tony Butler (bass); Mark Brzezicki, Simon Phillips (drums); Jody Linscott (percussion); Polli Palmer (tuned percussion). Recorded at Eel Pie Studio, A.I.R. Studios, Wessex Studios, London. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Personnel: Pete Townshend; Mark Brzezicki, Pretty Tony, Simon Phillips, Virginia Astley, Peter Hope-Evans. If Empty Glass, an album filled with songs that could have been performed by the Who, was a solo album because it was too revealing and personal, All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes was a solo record since it's impossible to hear anyone but Townshend wanting to indulge in this deliberately arty, awkwardly poetic bullsh*t. Where his other albums showed an inclination toward classical-influenced art rock, this is ...
