| A major disappointment While the expectations were unreasonable -- considering that this came out as Michael Jackson's popularity was at an unprecedented high thanks to "Thriller" -- what makes this album a major disappointment is that the six Jackson brothers rarely performed together. "Victory" is a textbook example of how NOT to produce such a highly anticipated album, which makes this one of the biggest bombs in recent popular music history. The first time all six Jacksons brothers get a chance to record together (and the first Jacksons album since in several years) and about the only song they did together was "Torture." On top of that, Jermaine was constrained by what he could contribute since he just signed a deal with Arista Records (a popular duet with Michael, "Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming," was not allowed on the album). Everything else was a solo song from one of the other brothers -- "State of Shock" was a duet with Michael and The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger, "One More Chance" was a solo song by Randy, "Body" by Marlon, etc. Nothing against the other brothers (even Jackie sang lead on a track!), but what people wanted to hear was The Jacksons all performing together with Michael as the lead singer (and Jermaine occasionally taking the lead) -- not three lesser brothers trying to parlay Michaelmania into solo careers (which Marlon and Randy got and Jermaine getting an infusion of popularity). I was dissapointed in this album after I looked at the album credits..and Seen "TOTO"..OMG! i thought it sounded like "TOTO" and I was very sadden, but I still played it..love the 'One More Chance' and of course 'Torture'..great songs..POP producers don't have SOUL..thats it.. | "VICTORY" This is the last jacksons album to be released back in 1984. There are a few good songs on it like:TORTURE,WAIT AND STATE OF SHOCK. STATE OF SHOCK IS A CRACKING DUET BETWEEN MICHAEL AND MICK JAGGER IT WENT TO BE A TOP 20 HIT WHEN RELEASED. I HAD NEVER REALLY HEARD OF IT BEFORE BUT I'M GLAD I FOUND IT! OVERALL THIS ISN'T THE JACKSONS BEST ALBUM LIKE THE "TRIUMPH" AND "DESTINY" ALBUMS BUT ITS NOT A BAD ONE EITHER. PUT IT THIS WAY PLAY THESE FEW TUNES LOUD AND GET DANCING!!
