Empire Burlesque songs Product Information
Empire Burlesque album for sale by Bob Dylan was released Jan 01, 1990 on the Columbia label. One album removed from his so-called "Christian" period, EMPIRE BURLESQUE foreshadowed Bob Dylan's studio modus operandi for the rest of the 1980s. It forsakes cohesive lyrical and sonic visions for the chance to be all things to all Dylan fans, many of whom proclaimed it as his greatest work since BLOOD ON THE TRACKS; thus, grumpy apocalyptic proclamations, statements of absolute faith (physical or spiritual?) and credos of self-awareness all get equal space. Empire Burlesque CD music contains a single disc with 10 songs. ...See Full Description

Excellent. I really enjoy it. He is such a genius.

I'm a big big Dylan's fan, I have all his albums and please beleive me, this is the worst (or at least one of the worst). He was trying to be modern, and the result was that he was; at that time pop-rock music (of course not everything) was exactly like this, awful. It's far away from Infidels or Oh mercy, also from the 80's but inspired and alive, it sounds like an electronic exercise from a baby. Really bad.

After reading reviews written by danielthomas5, i gotta tell you what a clown this guy is. he sounds like he's trying to be a professional critic. HA! The truth is that this and other Bob Dylan CD's from the 80's were really good. They don't sound like his songs from the 60's and 70's but that doesn't make them bad. If you are thinking of buying any Dylan CD's from the 80's go for it. i would recommend "Shot Of Love". danielthomas5 says to never speak of Dylan's 80's albums again. maybe it should be danielthomas5 who should never speak again.

I know I only gave it three stars but it is still a Bob Dylan three stars so believe me it's not bad. The best cuts-the snarling , whiplash rocker "Clean Cut Kid", the beautifully written and sung "I'll Remember You", "Emotionally Yours"(the O'Jays sung the hell out of this one at the Dylan tribute) and the single from the LP, "Tight connection to My Heart (has anybody seen my love). If you are a fan you should like it.
