| | Bangles Greatest Hits CD Bangles Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
This is a Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players.
Somewhat unfortunately, 1990's GREATEST HITS covers only the Bangles' years at Columbia Records, meaning that their great garage-rocking debut single, "Getting Out of Hand," and their fantastic self-titled 1982 EP are MIA. Also, the collection focuses almost exclusively on the Los Angeles power poppers' singles instead of their moodier and more experimental album tracks, giving a rather unbalanced portrait of the band. That said, the singles are excellent, from the classic no-nonsense beat-pop of "Hero Takes A Fall" and "Walking Down Your Street" to languid ballads like the heartbreaking "If She Knew What She Wants" and "Going Down To Liverpool." Their non-LP version of Paul Simon's "Hazy Shade of Winter" is also including sparing you from the embarrassment of owning the soundtrack to the wretched LESS THAN ZERO. The set closes with two previously unreleased tracks including a terrific folk-rock cover of Gary Zekley's "Where Were You When I Needed You."

This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.Q (7/95, p.138) - 4 Stars - Excellent - "...over their three albums they were responsible for some quite sparkling and sublime pop moments....A thoroughly likable collection all around." Bangles Greatest Hits Songs Greatest Hits Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Good stuff If you like them and if you do not need to collect everything from them that is a good choice. Nothing significant is missing and even few songs could be forgotten. Nice, sweet and beautiful girls with nice, sweet and beautiful vices, at least Susanne ;-)
Walking like an Egyptian! Submitted by audi0na (Denmark) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great Collection!!! This is a great collection of hits from one of the world's greatest bands of all time! All the hits are here including "Eternal Flame", "Walk Like An Egyptian", "In Your Room", "Manic Monday", "If She Knew What She Wants", "Hazy Shade Of Winter",etc..., plus two previously unreleased b-side tracks "Where Were You When I Needed You", and "Everything I Wanted"...a particular standout on this set would be bassist Micki Steele's bluesy "Following"...it's downright chilling! $16.89 The title refers to the night when three men, Randy (Matt Dillon), his cousin Carl (Paul Reiser) and Detective Dehling (John Goodman), all meet Jewel Valentine (Liv Tyler) at a bar called McCool's. Actually, they don't so much meet her as fall under her spell when they first lay eyes on her. In her clinging red dress she looks like a cross ...
| | Very Best Of The Eagles CDs (1994) Remastered; Digipak
Greatest Hits album
$20.25 THE VERY BEST OF includes a 46-page booklet with pictures and track information.
"Hole In The World" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
This 1994 greatest hits package (released in anticipation of the band's wildly successful reunion tour and album) supplants THEIR GREATEST HITS 1971-1975. It adds seven songs, but unfortunately deletes "Already Gone," one of their best rockers.
What's most interesting about THE VERY BEST OF THE EAGLES - apart from the presence of obviously classic songs like "Take It Easy" and "Hotel California" - is that it demonstrates that the band's esthetic was fully formed from day one. Despite the fact that the songs here span nearly a decade, listening to them back to back you could almost believe they were the product of one marathon recording session.
The Eagles' founders Don Henley and Glenn Frey were forthright in their desire to bring then-emerging country rock to new heights of commercial success. Formed in Los Angeles in 1971, they learned from their ...
| | Electric Light Orchestra A New World Record - Expanded Edition CD (1976) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Greatest Hits CD music
$7.59 Also available in a 3-pack with FACE THE MUSIC and DISCOVERY.
1976's A NEW WORLD RECORD is both a classic of commercial '70s pop and an archetypal ELO album. From the outer-space synths and rich orchestrations that open the album to Jeff Lynne's meticulous production and Beatlesque melodies, A NEW WORLD RECORD is magnificent ear candy. Both ambitious enough to appeal to "serious" rock fans and ultra-catchy enough to sound terrific on Top 40 radio (the plaintively gorgeous, McCartney-like "Telephone Line" and the anthemic "Livin' Thing" were well-deserved smashes), ELO was one of the few '70s bands whose appeal covered both the FM and AM spectrums. The album even resurrects "Do Ya," a classic single by Lynne's former band, the Move, in a splashy new version.
The next ELO album, 1977's elaborate double-album OUT OF THIS WORLD, was probably the band's commercial high point, but A NEW WORLD RECORD is the group's artistic high-water mark.

| | Madonna Confessions Tour CD (2007) With Region 2 DVD
Greatest Hits music CDs
$21.29 A live CD and documentary DVD that announced the launch of Madonna's CONFESSIONS tour, the aptly named THE CONFESSIONS TOUR, released in January 2007, presents the dazzling spectacle that tour entailed. Recorded live at London's Wembley Stadium, CONFESSIONS spins through a good deal of Madge's 2005 disco opus, CONFESSIONS OF A DANCE FLOOR, and finds the singer in excellent voice.
"Dancefloor" is the operative word for each of the album's 13 tracks, as even the tunes predating CONFESSIONS are treated with that album's thumping, glitzy vibe. Even old-school Madonna classics like "Lucky Star" and "Like a Virgin" fit into the pulsing, strobe-lit aesthetic, ...
| | Red Queen To Gryphon Three CD (1974) (Import) United Kingdom
Greatest Hits songs
$16.65 Red Queen to Gryphon Three is only available coupled with the Raindance album on the same disc, but it has stood the test of time as an excellent progressive rock piece. The album centers around a game of chess, with each track around ten minutes in length. The symphonic structure of the movements intricately combine rich textured strings with medieval horns, reminiscent of 16th century England. The keyboards bridge together certain passages with just the right intensity so that they keep from modernizing the album's feel. While some progressive rock can seem over the top or contrived, Gryphon mixes subtlety with diversity ...
