Lemmy Kilmister had been leading Motörhead for 16 years by the time 1916 was recorded in 1991. Over the years, Motörhead had experienced more than its share of personnel changes -- and in fact, Kilmister was its only remaining original member. But the band's sound hadn't changed much, and time hadn't made its sledgehammer approach any less appealing. As sobering as his reflections on the horrors of World War I are on the title song, he's unapologetically amusing on "Going to Brazil," "Angel City" (an ode to the "beautiful" party people of L.A.), and "Ramones" (which salutes the New York punk band). Whether the subject matter is humorously fun or more serious, Motörhead is as inspired as ever on 1916. ~ Alex Henderson
Along with 1986's ORGASMATRON, 1916, Motorhead's first release of the '90s, is the finest from the band's twin guitar line-up (which included Wurzel and Phil Campbell). Some longtime Motorhead fans wrote the band off after original guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke left in the early '80s, but, as the two aforementioned albums prove, Motorhead still had plenty of tricks left up their sleeve.
1916 is as close as Motorhead ever got to recording a concept album--some songs deal with the horrors of World War One, such as "No Voices in the Sky" and the title track. But there are several typical, non-message-laden Motorhead ragers, such as "I'm So Bad (Baby I Don't Care)," and a tribute to a certain legendary New York City punk group, "Ramones."Rolling Stone (3/21/91) - 3.5 Stars - Good Plus - "..manages to mingle ruthlessness and listenability like never beofre...creating a new threshold of sharpness for the genre. Fortunately, the crisper approach only makes the cruelty of the group's playing more pronounced."
Q (3/91) - 4 Stars - Excellent - "..at 45 the godfather of thrash metal still won't give the old folks a break...Motorhead's ninth studio album is a mad morass of noise, the turbocharged twin guitars of Wurzel and Campbell adding a modern machine sheen to the more primeval approach of Lemmy's shot-blasted vocals."
Musician (4/91) - "..Exaggerating and flaunting death imagery, as metal acts are wont to do, is like giving the grim reaper the finger. In parodying death you defy it, an attitude many find hopelessly adolescent. But by employing the same with that fueled classics like "Killed by Death" to make a serious statement about the senselessness of war, Motorhead shows a surprising emotional range. Maturity even."

Live Recording Def Leppard: Joe Elliott (vocals); Pete Willis, Steve Clark (guitar); Rick Savage (bass); Rick Allen (drums).
Additional personnel: Chris M. Hughes (synthesizer).
Recorded at Startling Studios, Ascot, England in December 1979.
On Through the Night, Def Leppard's debut album, established the band as one of the leading lights of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. While possessing the tight, controlled attack of comrades Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, Def Leppard was uninterested in the fantastic, menacing, and sometimes gothic themes of those bands; instead, On Through the Night is a collection of working-class hard rock anthems informed by the big, glittering hooks of glam rock. ...

Blue Riddim Band has a long and storied history in the music world. They toured for many years and their musical journey was highlighted with an opening slot for Bob Marley and The Wailers as well as several trips to Jamaica to perform in Reggae Sunsplash. Their Grammy nominated album "Alive in Jamaica" was recorded there Aug 6, 1982. The founding members are still pushing airwaves in Kansas City and have been in constant contact and perform when the opportunity arises. Like riding a bike they stepped into the studio in 2008 to track this horn heavy Ska blast. The result is nothing short of what you'd expect from the Reggae masters! Danceable and ever so hypnotic, Ska Inferno will re-ignite your passion for ...
