| | Jeff Beck Blow By Blow/Wired/There And Back CD Jeff Beck Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
Originally released as three separate albums, BLOW BY BLOW (1975), WIRED (1980) and THERE AND BACK (1976).
Sony repackaged and re-released the three studio albums Jeff Beck recorded in the late '70s -- the fusion albums Blow by Blow and Wired, plus There and Back -- as a slip-cased box set. It's not a bad way to acquire the albums if you don't already own them, but there are no bonus tracks or new packaging or remastering, which means it's of marginal interest to hardcore collectors. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

| | Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon CD (1973)
Blow By Blow/Wired/There And Back CD music
$12.59 DARK SIDE OF THE MOON was a benchmark record. It turned the musical world on its ear with a hitherto unseen combination of sounds, and changed things considerably for Pink Floyd. For this project, Pink Floyd resurrected older and unfinished numbers, some of which came from the multitude of soundtracks the band members had previously worked on. The ...
| | Mike Bloomfield Super Session CD (1968) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Blow By Blow/Wired/There And Back music CDs
$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").
All the tunes make effective templates for the kind off-the-cuff music-making that in less capable hands might have resulted in simple noodling. In fact, although Bloomfield and Stills don't play together on any of the cuts (Bloomfield played on one side of the original LP, Stills on the other), all three principals get off lots of good licks and producer Kooper has some interesting ...

| | Twilight Singers Blackberry Belle CD (2003)
Blow By Blow/Wired/There And Back CD music
$14.29 Greg Dulli returns to his Twilight Singers project with the atmospheric Blackberry Belle. This time around, the dirtily soulful self-hater/lover is joined at one point or another by multi-instrumentalist Mathias Schneeberger, guitarist Alvin Youngblood Hart, Galactic drummer Stanton Moore, the incomparable Petra Haden, and Mark Lanegan, who takes main vocal duties for the shadowy devil of closer "Number Nine." Apollonia even makes an appearance as a backing vocalist for a few tracks. Somehow, even with its grainy appropriations of trip-hop (especially "Teenage Wristband," which sounds like a holdover from the first half of the Singers' 2000 debut), everything on Blackberry Belle begins to eventually sound like Leonard Cohen. The moody black-and-white palm tree cover ...

Blow By Blow/Wired/There And Back songs
$10.09 On their singles and EPs, Good Shoes seemed like the scrappy kid brothers of similarly bouncy, angular bands like Maxïmo Park and the Futureheads, but on their debut album, the Shoes come into their own: Think Before You Speak is a set of cheeky, vulnerable songs with all the sugar-rush immediacy, and addictiveness, of a crush. The ...
