Originally released as three separate albums, TED NUGENT, CAT SCRATCH FEVER and FREE-FOR-ALL. All tracks have been digitally remastered. OUT OF CONTROL is a 2-CD box set containing 34 tracks spanning Ted Nugent's entire solo career. It features previously unreleased, live and alternate tracks. Also included are a 36-page full-color booklet with photos and two essays--one by Rolling Stone writer David Wild and another by Ted Nugent. Sony repackaged and re-released three of Ted Nugent's best albums -- Ted Nugent, Cat Scratch Fever and Free-for-All -- as a slip-cased box set. It's not a bad way to acquire the albums if you don't already own them, but there are no bonus tracks or new packaging or remastering, which means it's of marginal interest to hardcore collectors. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Out of Control is a comprehensive double-disc set that contains 34 songs from all stages of Nugent's career, tracing his rise from the Amboy Dukes to the arena-rock "madman" of the '70s. Along the way, all of his most popular songs are heard: "Journey to the Center of Your Mind," "Call of the Wild," "Great White Buffalo," "Stranglehold," "Cat Scratch Fever," "Wango Tango." There are a couple of unreleased songs and alternate takes to entice collectors, but for most listeners, this -- or Double Live Gonzo -- will be all the Nuge they need. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine The three-disc set TED NUGENT/CAT SCRATCH FEVER/FREE FOR ALL contains Ted Nugent's first three solo releases, and as any longtime Nuge fan will tell you, those three albums are quintessential Ted. A major reason why Nugent became one of America's top rock acts of the late-'70s was his incessant touring and over-the-top live show. But as these albums prove, he was also more than capable of putting together a kick-ass rock tune when it counted. The Nuge himself has often praised his self-titled debut as his favorite, and after hearing such straight-between-the-eyes rockers as "Stranglehold," "Hey Baby," and "Just What the Doctor Ordered," it's easy to understand why. But that's not to say that the other two albums aren't as exceptional, as such cuts as "Homebound," "Turn It Up," "Street Rats," "Dog Eat Dog," "Hammerdown," and the title tracks from both CAT SCRATCH and FREE FOR ALL prove. In short, three of the best hard-rock albums of the late '70s. Ted Nugent's 1993 two-disc box set, OUT OF CONTROL, is made up of hits and album tracks, as well as a few rarities. The set wisely focuses primarily on the Nuge's '60s and '70s output, only featuring a few tracks from his less stellar '80s period. All Nugent fans will be familiar with such meaty cuts as "Stranglehold" (which features some of Ted's best guitar work), "Free-for-All," "Cat Scratch Fever," "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang," and his early hit with the Amboy Dukes "Journey to the Center of Your Mind." Such oft-overlooked album cuts like "Call of the Wild," "Stormtroopin'," "Hey Baby," "Hammerdown," "Homebound," and "Live It Up" finally get to shine in the spotlight, while the previously unreleased "Magic Party" and an alternate take of "Street Rats" are just a few of the rarities included. Also included is a 36-page booklet chock-full of classic photos and the Nuge's history. OUT OF CONTROL digs deeper than the single-disc GREAT GONZOS, with often explosive results.

THE Place to Start This is a VERY good career retrospective. You get almost all the hits up to 1993 (excluding Nugent's Damn Yankees work), lots of cool album tracks, and some rarities too. I personally could've done without the six Amboy Dukes songs, as "Baby Please Don't Go" and "Great White Buffalo" occur in their definitive form on Ted's own Double Live Gonzo album some years later. This is a great place to start for neophytes, and for people who aren't really huge fans, but want a heaping portion of the good stuff. Ultimate Ted Nugent has a similar track listing, for the record, so you may want to choose between those two. Missing from Out Of Control: "Snakeskin Cowboys," "Death By Misadventure," "WOrkin' Hard, playin' Hard," "Smokescreen," "Tailgunner," and "Thunder THighs." But what the hell, great deep cuts like "Live It Up" and "Terminus El Dorado" are here! Really cool booklet too. (As a box set though, it's not much, just two discs in a standard double-jewelcase with a CD-size booklet.) Submitted by Fizz (Delmarva) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Out Of Control
$7.99 Self Righteous Music - An EP consisting of 10 songs that I, myself, enjoy. Along with the EP comes an abundance of bonus songs created by myself and by my friends, all of which I enjoy immensely (their songs, not mine; mine are decent). It has just occurred to me that the actual title of the album should be discussed, for it has layered meanings:1. To be self-righteous is bad, right? Well yes, the title is a bit tongue-in-cheek; I am not some arrogant fellow who elevates himself above everyone else...well not all the time. Basically I'm exaggerating my idea that it should not matter how other people view the music of an artist as long as the artist is satisfied. Too often bands exist to please a market or a scene, which, in my opinion, makes the music invalid and worthless.2. It's meant to be ironic in the sense that if it were superior to all other albums it would be somewhere else (in stores??) and certainly wouldn't be as obscure and lo-fi as it is.3. If I don't fully and truly back my own songs, how can I expect others to enjoy them? There exists a concept behind Self Righteous Music, I bring a simple message: there exists a pure tap of music in the world, uncorrupted by profit and image, sponsorship and labels. Thanks to CD Baby, this sort of music reaches ears, reaches minds; thanks to CD Baby, the lone musician with a unique dream gets a few listeners. And that's all we ever need, just a few listeners. So thank you CD Baby; and thank you artists who inspire me, listeners who lend me time, friends who tell me my music is better than it is. This album is for you. (But mostly for me).-JacobThe David Spade Falcon Project is a brainchild of people. People that like music. How it started no one knows for sure, even the leading force behind it. In a five minute discussion, the starting point of TDSFP was attributed to the video game Gitaroo Man, Jack Black, Ryan Galloway (a contributor), me (the writer of this) and a plethora of other events, places, and people. But that's not what matters. Someone had the itch to create something that interested them, that piqued their interest. And somehow, a year or so later, and with CD Baby discovered pretty much on accident, here we (or him, as I am a very, shall we say... lax contributor) are with a CD out for the public to buy. It's exciting, it's new territory, and I personally couldn't be more happy for everyone involved. We already know it's not about money, and, as the title suggests, the entire album is very self righteous (but that's not to say cheap of course). Self righteous in the sense that here at CD Baby is an incredible ...
