Digitally remastered by Mark Wilder (Sony Music Studios, New York, New York). Earth, Wind & Fire has delivered more than its share of excellent albums, but if a person could own only one EWF release, the logical choice would be That's the Way of the World, which was the band's best album as well as its best-selling. Open Our Eyes had been a major hit and sold over half a million units, but it was World that established EWF as major-league, multi-platinum superstars. Fueled by gems ranging from the sweaty funk of "Shining Star" and "Yearnin' Learnin'" to the gorgeous ballad "Reasons" and the unforgettable title song, EWF's sixth album sold at least five million units. And some of the tracks that weren't major hits, such as the exuberant "Happy Feelin'" and the gospel-influenced "See the Light," are equally powerful. There are no dull moments on World, one of the strongest albums of the 1970s and EWF's crowning achievement. [The 1999 CD reissue has five previously unreleased "sketches" from late 1974, including much briefer instrumental run-throughs of "Shining Star" and "That's the Way of the World," the first take alternate vocal of "All About Love," an alternate of "Happy Feelin'," and the jazz-oriented jam "Caribou Chaser" (the only one of the five not to be represented in a different version on the proper album).] ~ Alex Henderson Providing the soundtrack for the film of the same name, THAT'S THE WAY OF THE WORLD was originally released in 1975. The movie featured Earth, Wind & Fire as the Group and a young Harvey Keitel as their record producer. The album topped the charts for three weeks and is an R&B/funk classic. The opening chords of the number-one smash "Shining Star" begin a very special record. The song's positive lyrics are laid over a fabulous groove and arrangement. A smooth trumpet piece leads into the soprano harmonies of the title track. "Happy Feelin'" picks up the pace with standout percussion and sax solos. "All About Love" is a soulful ballad featuring Maurice White on vocals. "Reasons," sung by the equally competent Philip Bailey, takes the listener on a journey to the land of R&B perfection. "Africano," featuring a flute intro, is a flowing funkified number that would be the inspiration for many disco tunes of later years. "See the Light" showcases the production talents of Maurice White. This reissue also contains five unreleased demo versions, making it an essential purchase.

| That's The Way Of The World Music That's The Way Of The World Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) True legends! Everyone who knows me, knows EWF is my favorite group! And this is without a doubt, one of their top five albums! Every single song on this album, from Reasons, to Shining Star, is phenomenal! If you're not familiar with this group, buy this incredible CD, and listen to what (pure genius) sounds like! Submitted by Lance (New Jersey) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The Pinnacle! 'That's The Way Of The World' is widely regarded as Earth,Wind & Fire's best album ever. That is true for three very big reasons-one it is the album that broke the band commercially as it contained three of their classic standards in the title track,"Shinning Star" and "Reasons".Also the album is such a varied mix of some of the more popular R&B sounds of the mid 1970's.
Hard funk, smooth pop, light soul and even the afro funk-pop instrumental
"Africano" tapping into the bands cultural and musical roots-same goes the latin stylings of "See The Light".Of the non hits the the bouncy "Happy Feelin'" and the sensative "All About Love" are the best.Another reason for this albums special quality is that it captures Earth,Wind & Fire when they still sounded raw and visceral. They had not yet succomb to some of the studio slickness they began to embrace with the passing of arranger Charles Stepney
and his brilliant vision is as on display on these tunes as that of Maurice White's.No matter how one cuts it this is about as commercially successful as a pure musical work of art is likely to get! Submitted by Andre' (Brewer,ME.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Melanie Fiona Bridge CD (2009)
That's The Way Of The World
$8.79 Melanie Fiona's debut single, "Give It to Me Right," was a perfect 2009 pop-R&B recording. The single coupled a timeless classic (the Zombies' "Time of the Season") with roof-raising vocals and infectious pop hooks that stuck like peanut butter. Fiona's single was perfect, albeit a touch formulaic. Because of this, it's no surprise that a large chunk of her debut album, THE BRIDGE, is much of the same. Like any good 2009 pop-soul recording, the album offers influences from decades of soul music. Fiona, a Kanye West protégé, collaborates with about as many styles of music as she has producers and writers, who include most prominently Canadian R&B singer-songwriter Andrea Martin, Rob Fusari, Peter Wade Keusch, Sidh Solanki, Vada Nobles, Bill Blast, Future Cut, Stereotypes, Dan Strong, JK, Jay Fenix, and Affiliate. This mash-up of masterminds is a good thing; it offers ...

| | K'Jon I Get Around CD (2009)
That's The Way Of The World
$10.55 Photographer: Christian Lantry. When K'Jon languorously croons "I'm finally gettin' around" on the title track of his 2009 debut slab I GET AROUND, he's putting it lightly. Like Anthony Hamilton and so many others before him, the years of hustle pour out in the singer's impassioned voice, and when he intones the near-cliche "I just want you so bad/it just seems so real" in the intro to the torch song "On The Ocean," there's a hunger behind his words of desire giving them power. An otherworldly `70s vibe pours out of K'Jon on the first half of I GET AROUND, a late-night AM radio tenor of passion and seduction and sex and discarded liquor bottles. His dabbles in the present are less fantastic, but he brings the past and present on "On Everything," a spare track which mixes a sinister, slightly chopped & screwed beat with a beautiful piano hook, and the perfect bedroom-eyed vocals, buoyed by the requisite guest rap (this time by Seven the General). K'Jon at his best ...
