| | Encore!: 16 Most Requested Songs CD Ray Conniff Discography of CDs
Compilation producer: Didier C. Deutsch. Recorded between 1955 and 1991. Includes liner notes by Roy Hemming. All tracks are stereo except "Begin The Beguine." This is part of Legacy's 16 Most Requested Songs series. Audio Mixer: Tom "Curly" Ruff. Liner Note Author: Roy Hemming. Illustrator: Darryl Zudeck. Unknown Contributor Role: Tony Natelli. This features more of Ray Conniff's biggest hits, including Cole Porter's "Begin the Beguine" as well as "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face," "Besame Mucho," and "Seasons in the Sun." 16 Most Requested Songs: Encore offers another good overview of Ray Conniff's career. It includes a more standard selection of songs without some of Conniff's pop excursions (such as the Coke commercial "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" or the Barry Manilow hit "I Write the Songs"). Traditionalists may find this a strength; kitsch enthusiasts may consider it a detriment. Either way, it is a solid collection even more readily available than the first version. Another good introduction to Conniff. ~ JT Griffith Encore!: 16 Most Requested Songs Music Encore!: 16 Most Requested Songs Songs Encore!: 16 Most Requested Songs Review

Encore!: 16 Most Requested Songs
$18.05 Deep Purple: Ian Gillan (vocals); Ritchie Blackmore (guitar); Jon Lord (keyboards); Roger Glover (bass); Ian Paice (drums). All tracks have been digitally remastered. Deep Purple had kicked off the '70s with a new lineup and a string of brilliant albums that quickly established them (along with fellow British giants Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath) as a major force in the popularization of hard rock and heavy metal. All the while, their reputation as one of the decade's fiercest live units complemented this body of work and earned them almost instant legendary status. But with 1973's disappointing Who Do We Think We Are -- the fourth and final studio outing by the original run of Purple's classic Mark II lineup -- all the fire and inspiration that had made the previous year's Machine Head their greatest triumph mysteriously vanished from sight. Vastly inferior to all three of its famous predecessors, the album revealed an exhausted band clearly splintering at the seams. Except for opener "Woman From Tokyo," which hinted at glories past with its signature Ritchie Blackmore riff, the album's remaining cuts are wildly inconsistent and ...
| | Montrose CD (1973)
Encore!: 16 Most Requested Songs
$18.05 Montrose: Sammy Hagar (vocals); Ronnie Montrose (guitar); Bill Church (bass guitar); Denny Carmassi (drums). The '70s gave us a slew of classic hard rock albums -- the likes of which may never be equaled -- and though it hasn't had the lasting influence of, say, Boston's or Ted Nugent's first albums, Montrose's eponymous debut proved equally influential and important in its day. Released in 1973, the record also introduced a young Sammy Hagar to the world, but the explosive aggression of Ronnie Montrose's biting guitar left no doubt as to why it was his name gracing the cover. A rock-solid rhythm section ...
