Unknown Contributor Role: Jeff Griffin . Well-established as one of the preeminent electric guitar players of his generation by the time of this 1993 release, Joe Satriani offers his legion of fans a set of previously unreleased and live tunes on this two-disc collection. Including rare recordings from a mid-'80s EP, TIME MACHINE also features standouts such as the surging title track and the plaintive "All Alone (Left Alone)," which respectively showcase the heavy and delicate aspects of Satch's lauded six-string work. The second CD presents 14 energetic concert performances by the Long Island-born guitar hero, including the blazing "Summer Song," the dreamy "Always with Me, Always with You," and the fierce "Surfing with the Alien." In addition to Satriani's typically stellar playing, TIME MACHINE boasts contributions by a number of top-notch sidemen, including bassists Doug Wimbish, Stu Hamm, and Matt Bissonette and drummers Jeff Campitelli and Greg Bissonette, making it a must-have release for connoisseurs of instrumental hard-rock virtuosity. Time Machine is an excellent double-CD set providing something for just about everyone who's interested in Joe Satriani's music. Disc one reprints four tracks from the 1984 Joe Satriani EP, while also showcasing nine new studio tracks and a loose jam session, and disc two is a collection of 14 of Satriani's best live performances. Included among the new material is the booming "Time Machine," the straightforward but slamming "Mighty Turtle Head," and the hammering "Dweller on the Threshold," as well as "Banana Mango II," a new companion piece to the re-released "Banana Mango." Also of note is "Speed of Light," yet another of his trademark "surfing songs," and "Baroque," a beautiful acoustic piece. The 16-minute "Woodstock Jam" is interesting for a short time but tends to ramble; all the same, this set of recordings makes an excellent starting point for new fans and will give longtime fans something new as well. ~ Phil CarterEntertainment Weekly (10/15/93, p.76) - "...[TIME MACHINE] gives a portrait of an artist who is both tough and tender..." - Rating: A- Musician (2/94, p.73) - "...TIME MACHINE is an album which neatly documents [Satriani's] dual natures: the lab-bound tinkerer and the live arena crowd pleaser, the wild beast and the melodious crooner...." Joe Satriani Time Machine Songs Time Machine Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) The best... What can I say?

Joe In A Nutshell Time Machine is a great portrait of Joe's diverse talent. The first disc is new studio material and the second is live old stuff. This could have easily been two separate releases, but packaged together brings to mind the phrase "the sum greater than the parts". To an outsider it would seem that all of his releases are described as "incredible/unbelievable/mind-blowing" by the Joe faithful and that it could actually get boring after a while. That isn't the case. He continues to amaze at every turn and Time Machine is no different. In addition to the usual rock and roll and softer stuff, there are a few weird tracks that show off Joe's talent in unusual ways (I Am Become Death being one). Studio highlights include Time Machine, The Mighty Turtle Head, Speed of Light and Dweller On The Threshold. The live disc highlights are Satch Boogie/Summer Song/Flying In A Blue Dream (listen to these loud), The Crush Of Love, Always With Me Always With You, Big Bad Moon and Surfing With The Alien. On top of all the great music, there is a 23(!) page booklet with the cd that is pretty much the musical history of Joe up to that point. There is so much in it, you could listen to the whole studio disc while reading it. This is positively a keeper. Submitted by a reviewer (D Horimoto Lynn Haven, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Audio Mixer: Paul Smith . Recording information: Board, Nashville, TN (10/1999); Room (10/1999). On KIDS IN PHILLY, Philadelphia's Marah swings for the fences, taking the first of what would be several full-hearted if ultimately unsuccessful cracks at a crossover statement of purpose along the lines of Springsteen's THE WILD, THE INNOCENT & THE E STREET SHUFFLE. The group's shambolic bar band pathos is ideally suited to the rough sketches of Philadelphia street life that permeate the album, however. If the results fall somewhat short of the group's ambitions--Marah sounds like it's trying to conjure "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" throughout)--it's not ...

$15.95 Disowning Kaleb is a power rock foursome from Montgomery, AL. They have been making their brand of Christian music since 1996. DK uses influences from secular bands as well as Christian bands to create their distinct sound. From bands like the Foo-Fighters and Stone Temple Pilots to DC Talk and Tait, the band combines the best elements from each to make their unique music. The name Disowning Kaleb has been asked about a meaning since the band's beginning. Sad to say, there is no deep theological description. It came from a five minute phone conversation, and two chance words. For the guys of DK- Josh Given (lead vocals, guitar), Brad Bird (drums, vocals), Kevin Boyer (lead guitar, vocals), and Patrick Franklin (bass); the band was originally just another reason to hang out. Shortly after forming; the band decided that God had gifted them with their abilities and they were not going to waste them. From nursery rhymes as children to the songs we fell in love or fell apart to; DK understood how music was a huge part of all our lives. These songs were and are emotional anchors in our lives. Disowning Kaleb's passion is to create music that can be that tie to God's love. We want to write songs that not only reach Christians but can affect the person that has decided they want nothing to do with God. With all this in mind; DK started writing material and in August 2001 the band released their first full length album; “Shades of Youthâ€. The CD's success for the band included airplay and opening act opportunities. “Shades of Youth†had three singles released to local radio and the song “Truth†was featured on the H.M. Magazine ...
