| | Suicidal Tendencies Lights...Camera...Revolution CD (1990)
Prime Cuts CD music
$6.25 Arguably Suicidal Tendencies' finest, and certainly most adventurous, album, 1990's LIGHTS CAMERA REVOLUTION features little in the way of the Los Angeles-based band's brash hardcore roots. Instead, it opts for an inventive thrash-metal-influenced sound, as best revealed on the opening mini-epic, "You Can't Bring Me Down," which presents frontman Mike Muir at his furious best, and showcases guitarist Rocky George's fierce lead work. LIGHTS also finds the group moving in a funk-metal direction ...
| | Insane Clown Posse Ringmaster CD (1994)
Prime Cuts music CDs
$10.45 Ringmaster, the second album from those urban pranksters the Insane Clown Posse, isn't as much a step forward as it is an improvement from their debut, Carnival of Carnage. Not that the group has really gotten any better -- they can barely rap, the beats are clumsy, the hard rock guitars are pandering -- but there is more ...

| | Ministry In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up CD (1990)
Prime Cuts music CDs
$6.09 By the time of A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste, Ministry had amassed enough of an arsenal of gear and a hardcore coterie of fans to make the band's shows literally explosive affairs in some cases. Also released as an accompanying video, which shows more than a few audience members seemingly uncaring about potential dismemberment, In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up is only six songs long, but delivers big time for each of them. The weird atmosphere of glowering goth and avant thrash metal that combined with the more direct dancefloor antics of Alain Jourgensen, Paul Barker, and company makes for a particularly potent combination live. Jourgensen's hoarsely roared, wracked vocals, given just enough electronic distortion to really cause some blood to flow, suit the various reinterpretations of The Land of Rape and Honey and A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste material, three songs from each. For the most part the live takes closely resemble the studio cuts aside from length; while the galloping "Deity" sticks to the original's three-minute headcrush, "So What" turns into an extended vamp, arguably going on a little too long but generally having fun with its own horror-movie ...

| | Chick Corea Light Years CD (1987) Import
Prime Cuts album
$26.79 The Chick Corea Elektric Band made a slight stylistic change with their second release, LIGHT YEARS. The furiously dynamic textures of the first album have been replaced by a funky backbeat groove for the majority of this record while maintaining the stylized electric sound for which the group had become known. This change reflects a desire by the band and their label, GRP, to reach a wider audience through the adult contemporary/jazz radio format that had begun to gain popularity. Also, new band members Frank Gambale (guitar) and Eric Marienthal (saxophone) came on board to ...
