Four years after their debut, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony prove that they're still the most unique group in hip-hop. This double-CD encompasses elements of both rap and R&B. Keeping it real is a high priority, as the four rappers/singers, Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Wish Bone & Bizzy Bone address such weighty subjects as life, death and God, topics that too many rappers tend to avoid. THE ART OF WAR also shows a softer side to Bone Thugs than their previous albums. On "It's All Real," a track that's more sung than rapped, they explain how the life they describe on record is truly their day-to-day reality. "If I Could Teach The World" and "Look Into My Eyes" are ballads that contain subtle positive messages.

Is it their best album? It is a more "WARRIOR" version of E.1999, the beats are more aggressive, as are the lyrics, and the Flow/Delivery will NEVER been seen/heard again, by anyone. the only one(s) who could top this, is Bone themselves. If youdon't have this, or have NEVER heard this, you CAN'T be a serious fan of Hip-hop/Rap....my Favorites? "Let Tha Law End"; "Thug Luv"; "All Original"; Neighborhood Slang"; Ready For War"; "Handle The Vibe"; "Look Into My Eyes".....ah, u know what, I love them all!!!!! Tha Greatest Hip-Hop Group of All Time "Art of War" is one of Bone's best albums. 23 tracks (minus 5 interludes) full of the Bones distinct flows, all produced by the group's biggest collaborator, DJ U-Neek. "Thug Luv" w/ 2Pac is a definite fan favorite, of both Bone and Pac fans alike. "Handle the Vibe", "All Original", "Ain't Nothin' Changed", "Wasteland Warriors", I mean, nuthin' but raw material. The singles "Look Into My Eyez", "If I Could Teach...", & "Body Rott", all tight. This album also featured the first Bone solo tracks. Krayzie's "It's All Real", Layzie's "Mind of a Souljah", Bizzy's "7 Sign" (feat. Maje$ty), & Wish's only solo track "Get Cha Thug On". The 4 Bones (along with a then free Flesh-N-Bone) followed up the success of "Crossroads" in the right way, and did it big in '97. Submitted by JayLeeMuf_cka (Milwaukee, WI) Was This Review Helpful? Perhaps Bone Thugs-N-Harmony have created a new genre of music and should no longer be considered "rap." No, they're not singing over a rap beat, or rapping over an R&B tune or sampled loop; so what exactly are they ...

Art Of War music CDs
$20.55 Twenty-eight doo wop numbers all dating from the late 1950s and early 1960s. The principal point here would be the rarity and sheer obscurity of the material, all previously unreleased, although almost everything here is of very high musical quality -- Vinny & the Visuals may not have cut much new ground with their version of "Stormy Weather," but it is pleasant listening, and there are fascinating modulations present in numbers like "Please Be Mine" by Donald Byron & the Montclairs. The sheer obscurity of the material is demonstrated by the absence of songwriting credits to more than half of the material. For the sheer delight of it, however, one should take in Danny & the Diamonds' rendition of "Possibility," which sounds amazingly like "Remember When" by the Earls -- and then note that Stan Vincent, who wrote and produced "Remember When," also has the writing credit on "Possibility." A big part of the delight in a collection like this is sampling the work of musicians that, somehow, didn't make it. At times it's obvious why (good as they may have sung, it's hard to believe that, even in 1961, anyone would take an act named Tommy Tomorrow & the Yesterdays seriously), but a few, like Danny & the Diamonds, Nicky & the Del-Fives, and Vinnie Di Martino & the Clouds, deserved better -- they're two of the acts represented here on which the makers ...

| | Soulful Sound Of Marvin Gaye CD (1997)
Art Of War album
$7.89 The Soulful Sound of Marvin Gaye is essentially the same album as Adults Only, released on CBS Records in 1987, but repackaged with some substitutions. It starts unfavorably; "Sexual Healing" is finally listed with the proper songwriter's credits, but here the classic has been shortened to under four minutes in length -- 3:59 to be exact. "My Love Is Waiting," however, is full-length and hooks you with its reggae beats and rhythms. The standard "Why Did I Choose You?" has Gaye sounding like a '60s MOR artist, and while pleasant, it will probably turn off some fans. "Til Tomorrow" and "Ain't It Funny" were both written by Gaye, and each have a morbid, depressing feel about them. With the exception of a couple of jams, this is not Gaye's best work. ~ Andrew Hamilton
