| | Dazz Band 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection CD (2001)
Inolvidables songs
$6.75 Originally released on Motown Records. Includes liner notes by A. Scott Galloway.
An 11-song snapshot of the Dazz Band's Motown stint that includes the not-often-featured "To the Roof," whose origins date back to "Take It to the Woof" by Cleveland, OH-based funk band Morning Maniac led by ex-Dazz Band member Kenny Pettus who's the lead voice on the Earth, Wind and Fire-ish "I Might As Well Forget About Loving You." But other than that, there are no surprises, just straight-ahead digitally remastered Dazz Band blasts that blow you away in CD format ("Let It Whip"'s bassline is hypnotizing). For lovers, "Invitation to Love" and "Knock, Knock" are bonafide heart stirrers and the only two slow jams in the bunch. Not as complete as the 1994 Funkology: ...

The global village shrinks down to a single neighborhood in this ambitious project. Rhythm is the road that runs through it all, drawing residents from most of the corners of the world; odd, though, that with legions gathered from India, Africa, New Zealand, Europe, and the U.S., no one from South or Latin America, or from any Native American cultures, joined the party. Even so, producers Duncan Bridgeman and Jamie Catto accomplish a miracle of sorts by traveling to far-flung places and recording dozens of singers and musicians. Each artist contributes parts ...

| | Lisa Lynne Maiden's Prayer CD (2001)
Inolvidables music CDs
$13.05 Lisa Lynne is one of the world's leading practitioners of ethnic tribal ambience. That is a different way of describing her music, but it fits. She is internationally famous for her virtuosity on the Celtic harp, on which she has performed original compositions and traditional Irish music from the ancient tribes of Eire. Using Brian Eno's definition, Lynne's music is interesting enough to be the focus of deep listening and innocuous enough to be part of the environment. Lynne upped the ante with the release of Maiden's Prayer. This beautiful cross-cultural hybrid blends the musical styles of Middle Eastern, Far Eastern, Celtic, Western European, and Appalachian cultures. Lynne's frequent collaborator, George Tortorelli, contributes his virtuosity on various wind instruments and percussion. Lynne also incorporates the musicianship of the Lian Ensemble and Musica Angelica, along with several other guests. ...

Inolvidables album
$11.39 Recorded live at the Theater Koninklijk Carre, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on February 11th, 2002.
According to Bloom, he'd resisted the idea of doing a live album despite requests for a decade prior to the release of this set, recorded on February 11, 2002, in Amsterdam. In its song selection, the record's unsurprising, reaching back as far as his early career and sprinkling numbers from throughout the 1990s with others from his albums in the early '00s. It's different from his studio recordings, though, in that it presents Bloom ...
