In his fourth Sony Latin release, Victor Manuelle continues with the Sergio George styling that granted him much greater commercial success than his earlier two solo efforts. It seems that George's pushy, bombastic writing challenges Manuelle's improvising ability to a greater extent, thus giving the production a live, unconfined feel. Omar Alfanno's "Dile a Ella" is a tune that bristles with uninhibited energy. "Dile a Ella," the self-penned "He Tratado," and "El Aguila" are exercises of contumacious swing in every way; among other delights, "Nuestra Historia" is a juicy, astute mix of the usual George sound and the son montuno genre. A must for late-'90s salsa fans, and one that continued to solidify Manuelle's position as a favorite in later salsa generations. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr.

After his huge sucess in 1996 with his self titled album, Vic strikes back with 7 more top ten hits...1996 and 1997 were two great years in the salsa industry...great memories....a must have.

Well 7 years ago was a huge time for salsa fans. Adolesent's breaks out with the Personal Ideal Album with huge hits like Personal Ideal, Arrepentida, Dame Un Poco Mas, and Clase Social. Servando Y Florentino comes out with their first cd which actually wend Platinum - Hermanos Primera. Well that cd was also awesome. They were all over the place. Gilberto Santarosa comes out with his break out song - No quiero na regalao - man was that the song. Marc Anthony comes out with his hit album - Contra La Corriente. And now Victor Manuelle strikes again after his hit album a year before with this album A Pesar De Todo. Well I must say what an album. Maybe Not as good as his previous cd but man, his hugest hit HE Tratado is still heard around today after 7 years. That song probably is Victor's best song like Volveras, and Ahora Me Toca Mi. This whole cd has all the hits from Asi Es La Mujer, Dila Ella, No Hace Falta Nada, to He Tratado. Man, if you do not have this cd, you need to get it. This album is every bit as good or even better than Marc's Contra La Corriente and also the album sales are similar. One of the top salsa albums in 1997. Get it.

Before the arrival of Carlos Santana's eponymous band, the San Francisco rock scene drew the inspiration for its jam-oriented music mainly from blues, rock, and Eastern modalities. Santana added Latin music to the mix, forever changing the course of rock & roll history. On Santana's groundbreaking debut album, the group mixes Latin percussion with driving rock grooves. Santana's unique guitar style, alternately biting and liquid, vies with the multiple percussionists for the sonic focus.
Unlike later efforts, Santana's first album features an abundance of loose collective compositions based on a couple of simple riffs ("Jingo," "Soul Sacrifice"). This approach allows for Santana and his bandmates to flex their improvisational muscles to fine effect.
