"Pintame" was nominated for the 2000 Billboard Latin Music Award for Tropical/Salsa Track of the Year and PINTAME won for Male Performer Album Of The Year. Arranger: Freddy Méndez. Elvis Crespo, the king of 'bomba' style merengue, turns up the heat on his sophmore recording, PINTAME. This vaguely effeminate hunk (a standout among his peers) pens several of the romantic tunes that he sings, infusing his metaphors with a delicate brand of passion. Throbbing bass and a swirling horn section complete the seduction. The tight, focused production work of Luis Angel Cruz and Robert Cora grooves hard but keeps the spotlight on the star. The saxophones carry the title track to a fever pitch as Elvis yearns for his ladylove to materialize at the tip of a painter's brush. "Ven" is a call for reconciliation, while "Besos De Coral" is a lovely seaside metaphor--alive with the wet kiss of waves and romps in the sand. The booming bass drops out for the poignant "Pequeno Luis," an admirable outcry against domestic violence crooned with full dramatic force to the sound of harp, timpani, and strings.
Elvis Crespo Pintame Songs Pintame Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) If you are not hispanic, how to like it... If you are not hispanic and did not grow listening and dancing to music like the one in Elvis Crespo's CD "Pintame", this music might come across to you as just annoying noise. And Elvis Crespo's voice might not be as refined as the ones you're used to.
Can a non hispanic ever like this music? I believe the answer is, "YES!!"
How???
By dancing to it.
(Even if you don't like how it sounds to the ear.)
Try dancing to it by "marching" to its rythms, swinging your hips while you "march", "marching" forward and backward, and then turning, stil "marching", in a semi-circle to the right and then come back and turn in a semi-circle to the left. Your arms can be bent at the elbows and moved forward and backward with the music while dancing.
It may feel very silly at first, but it is fun and engaging.
Once you have danced to this music, you will like it, you'll get a feeling for it.
The secret to liking this music?
Dancing first to its rythms. Have fun dancing to it and you'll learn to love it.
Afterwards, you'll just dance mentally to it when when sitting around while listening to it. Submitted by dcbcg (Albany, NY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Musical caffeine The CD from Elvis Crespo, "Pintame" is a lively and stimulating experience. The rythms are strong and harmonious. If you are down and bored and need a motivation to move and go, "Pintame" will get you started and will keep you going.
I specially like to listen to this CD when I am driving around running errands and feeling bored and frustrated with traffic and delays. What a relief it is to listen to this music when I am stuck on a red light-- the bad experience is neutralized by the enjoyment I have when listening to this fun and lively CD.

I know I am about 5 years too late with this one but well I was a senior in high school when this album came out 5 years ago. It just seems like yesterday when this all happened. I really miss high school, I must say though. But back to the topic, this album rocks, sure it is not as good as the suavemente album but like in movies, do sequals ever beat the original? People still accepted this album with open arms for elvis and elvis now became a merengue legend. Yeah it is hard to say that only having 2 albums but I mean the media was all over him way more than they ever were with tono rosario, or bonny cepeda or any of the likes of any artist. Let's face it, this album too is unbeatable. Por El Caminito is the main reason to buy this album. It, like Tu Sonrisa, shows that elvis is so talented that I mean he is sure a legend in this game and with 2 albums he showed that world that he is unbeatable in merengue as Tono Rosario went south when elvis came about. It is really hard to beat songs like tu sonrisa and Por El Caminito. Actually fast forward to 2004 right now and still no one has come out to beat those songs. There is only one person that came out to face elvis crespo and that was tony tun tun. Sure he had his hit Cuanda Acabe Placer, and it was close but still was not like tu sonrisa. Elvis was on top of the world with these 2 albums. And just to note, I also saw him live just before he came out with this cd and man, he is awsome to see live. Yes he blew tono rosario out the water live. Elvis is just awsome with a capital a baby! Submitted by puertoricandj (buffalo, ny usa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
