Smokin' album for sale by Humble Pie was released Oct 25, 1990 on the A&M (USA) label. SMOKIN' was Humble Pie's first post-Peter Frampton album. Smokin' songs Co-founder and blues shouter par excellence Steve Marriott was thoroughly in charge here, and the result was the band's best-selling album. Smokin' album for sale The idiom is basic, straight-ahead Stones/Faces style blues-rock, with occasional forays into Led Zeppelin-style riffage. Highlights include dramatically slowed down versions of Eddie Cochran's "C'mon Everybody," Junior Walker's "Roadrunner," and the wah-wah laden slow blues "The Fixer." "You're So Good for Me," which begins as a delicate acoustic number, ultimately mutates into a full-bore gospel rave-up, and is precisely the sort of thing that the Black Crowes seem to have studied assiduously.

This is Rock 'n' Roll
I just found this album, what, 30years since I last heard it. It has been added to my car CD's - so that it can be appreciated as it should be - at full volume and high speed.

I don't own any other album
with a more appropriate title. It's 2008 and I play this album just as often as I did when it was released in 1972.

Rock on Steve!!
First time I saw Humble Pie was in Chicago in September 1970 with Peter Frampton, et al. After Frampton split for a solo career, Steve Marriott and company played "Smokin" live in a 1972 concert.

Real rock and roll
One of the best blues-rock albums ever. I've probably listened to it a hundred times and I don't think it'll ever get old.
