An enormous commercial success, 1981's THE DUDE is a cross-cultural success blending jazz, Latin music, soul ballads, and straight pop into an admittedly slick but never over-produced or soulless stew. The album opens with a surprise; "Ai No Corrida" is a synthesizer-driven yet still funky Latin dance track written by Chaz Jankel of Ian Dury and the Blockheads, suggesting that unlike a lot of musicians his age, Quincy Jones kept his ears open to new music. Quincy Jones is a legand
I heard this album when I was 6 years old in 1981. Im 30 yrs old now and this album still gives me the same good feeling.

The Dude is a winning instruments combination. Really admire to Quincy Jones and his 1981 band with Louis Johnson in bass, all is good in funk world.

Hot to trot
as cool and funky now as when I first heard this - Inspired me to create agroup that would do this sort of thing, still trying to get the break, but the music keeps inspiring me.

AWESOME ,,,JUST AWESOME
This is the Best, Quincy was at his Prime when he picked the brightess RnB voices,James Ingram,Patti Austin, they both shine on this album, I was in the 9th grade when this album was released I love the whole album.

Fantastic Album
Bought the vinyl in 1981. Grew up listening to this gem. Fantastic music. QJ is genius. But the real credit must be given: "Velas" is a song penned by brazilians Ivan Lins & Vitor Msrtins, not by Stevie Wonder.
