Joe Cocker! songs Product Information
Joe Cocker! album for sale by Joe Cocker was released Nov 16, 1999 on the A & M label. Still riding high on the American success of his debut album and show-stopping appearance at the Woodstock festival, Joe Cocker hastily recorded a follow-up with his Grease Band and guest musicians. Remarkably, it sustained the quality of his debut, with Cocker barnstorming his way through Russell's instant classic "Delta Lady," "Hitchcock Railway," and a reworking of songs by Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and the Beatles. Joe Cocker! CD music contains a single disc with 12 songs. ...See Full Description

||With A Little Help From Those Pipes|
It's been some time since the great Cocker vocal power that characterised his late 60's and early 70's made it on to tape. Cocker's last good album was Sheffield Steel, and by then that great voice was already on the wane. These days sadly his vocal delivery is more akin to Cookie Monster than really cooking. This album however, recorded in his late 60s heyday is a different story. It would be almost impossible to find another interpreter of other peoples' songs who can come up with the goods like Cocker on this album. Bathroom Window, Delta Lady, Bird on the Wire are superb. Any of Cocker's albums from this era contain some of the great r&b and straight blues rock treasures of the past 50 years. It is somewhat annoying to find the same songs appearing on different albums through. Half of these turn up again on Cocker Happy and others. This is a CLASSIC piece of pure 60s rock that will live on forever.

||A good Joe Cocker album debut!|
In my opinion on this album has a great selection of songs that is on my Anthology CD. Like Dear Landlord, She Came in Through The Bathroom Window, Delta Lady and Darling Be Home Soon.

He was leader of white boy blues (and arguably by some that he still is) and this is nowhere more evident than in those first 2 albums. "Joe Cocker" the album is primarily an album of cover versions, but that doesn't detract from the power and drive of this collection of songs. He followed this album with the legendary "Mad dogs and Englishman", but hey, that's another story.
