| | Linda Ronstadt Mad Love CD Linda Ronstadt Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
Since the 1960s, Linda Ronstadt has gone down many different musical paths in her career, but with MAD LOVE it's quite clear she was in a rockin' state of mind. Kicking off with the title track (written by new wave band the Cretones, who back here on this album), Linda shows that rock can also mean pop, as this is as catchy as they come. "Party Girl" is the first of three Elvis Costello covers, and this version should have made Elvis proud. The Blondie-ish hit "How Do I Make You" features Nicolette Larson on background vocals.
"I Can't Let Go", shows that a beautiful voice can also be a rock & roll one. "Hurt So Bad" is the sole ballad on the album and is a soulful cover of Little Anthony & The Imperial's hit. The covers continue with an excellent version of Neil Young's "Look Out For My Love." The album concludes with Elvis Costello's "Girls Talk" and "Talking In The Dark." Linda had covered Elvis' "Alison" on her LIVING IN THE USA album and continues the tradition here. MAD LOVE is a high energy, rousing record with catchy riffs, fantastic vocals and solid production.

Mad Love album
$7.39 This was the fourth in a series of hit albums Linda Ronstadt made in the mid-seventies, starting with HEART LIKE A WHEEL. Like its predecessors, SIMPLE DREAMS is a rich collection of pensive folk ballads, pop with country leanings, and good old rock & roll. Her skill in navigating this rootsy terrain is exemplary, taking her from the swagger of her cover of The Rolling Stones' "Tumbling Dice" to the sweet whisperings of the acoustic "Maybe I'm Right." This record also features some of her most enduringly ...

$6.25 As the '70s were drawing to a close, Linda Ronstadt began to make some slight alterations to her image and the kind of songs she sang. The cover for 1978's LIVING IN THE U.S.A. showed Ronstadt--who usually wore flowing dresses ...
| | Linda Ronstadt Prisoner In Disguise CD (1975)
Mad Love music CDs
$7.09 After the chart-topping success of HEART LIKE A WHEEL, Linda Ronstadt released PRISONER IN DISGUISE in 1975, an extremely successful follow-up effort which bolstered her standing as one of America's most popular singers. Opting not to fiddle with a formula that was working, Ronstadt delivered another collection of well-crafted, carefully arranged rock, pop and country songs that showed off her talent for covering good tunes and rendering them in a way that allowed ...
| | Linda Ronstadt Heart Like A Wheel CD (1974)
Mad Love songs
$8.35 There are just no two ways about it: if you call yourself a fan of '70s music, you simply must have Linda Ronstadt's HEART LIKE A WHEEL. Like Fleetwood Mac's RUMOURS and The Eagles HOTEL CALIFORNIA, this is a masterpiece that has earned a spot in every record collection that's worth its salt. Ronstadt, the '70s queen of southern California country-rock, is in pristine form. Her angelic voice is flawless as each track flows from one to the other like a gentle stream.
Not only do you get the hit "You're No Good" and ...

| | Tony Orlando Platinum & Gold Collection CD (2003) Remastered
Mad Love music CDs
$7.69 Tony Orlando & Dawn's soft-pop cabaret is one of the odder relics of the early '70s -- it was sweet enough to fit in comfortably on the AM airwaves, but its heavy roots in traditional pop pastiche guaranteed it a stronger appeal to the Lawrence Welk audience. Years later, their squarer traits shine through brightest, ...

Mad Love album
$15.29 For all of its excesses, which might include an enormous fascination with whiskey and trucks, there can be little debate that country music has produced some of the most believable love songs in our befuddled species' whole history of singing about such matters. The list of romantic masterpieces in the genre is endless -- George Jones' "She Thinks I Still Care" and Patsy Cline's "I Fall to Pieces" come immediately to mind, as does Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" ...
