Although only "I Want Her" crossed over to the pop charts, hitting the Top Five, the five singles from Keith Sweat's debut album were prominently featured on R&B radio and dance floors from the winter of 1987 through the fall of 1988. Produced by nascent superstar producer and eventual label head Babyface, MAKE IT LAST FOREVER was arguably the very first "new jack swing" album; that style's characteristic mix of old-school soul-man vocals and hip-hop-influenced arrangements is all over this album.
The most obvious nod to soul tradition is in Sweat's unapologetically bombastic cover of the Dramatics' early-'70s lost-love ballad "In the Rain," but Sweat's no-nonsense vocals on the opening "Something Just Ain't Right" and the moving love jam of the title track are equally impressive. Though Babyface's characteristic production style would soon become so ubiquitous that by the early '90s it would be the dominant sound of R&B, his work on this album still sounds fresh.

Make it last forever Wow! the greatest single of Keith Sweat's history is this one.Make it last forever marked a(mine)generation forever.I heard it first time in 1990 here in Brazil. In our country,we have a big pasta of people that like Black Music, since old school(Marvin Gaye and others)until new school(R.Kelly,Keith Sweat,Al B.Sure,Babyface and others). Historic! I remember when he first debuted. Such promise and from 1987-1997 he was either on top or among the best of the time frame. Sadly Keith doesn't have the fans like he did way back when, but one of his more recent albums "Still In The Game" was as good as all getout! I'm not sure what the sales number are, but this will probably always be his more popular CD. Each and every song here was a hit and defined the style of Keith Sweat. Some say he whines, oh well I guess I characterize that as just being his "sound". There are only a few male singers that I truly like, Keith along with Gerald Levert, R. Kelly, Will Downing, and my runaway favorite right now Musiq, is still one of them. I think if people would actually listen to his newer releases (post 1998) they'd come around to wanna "sweat" again.

$8.55 Whining, begging soulman Keith Sweat's third album, Keep It Comin', fails to live up to the New Yorker's heart-wrenching first two; too many forgettable moments mar the set. The good include the heartfelt "Ten Commandments of Love" (not the Moonglows' classic), "Let Me Love You," and ...

| | Daedelus Exquisite Corpse CD (2005)
Make It Last Forever
$10.59 Daedelus' fourth album finds the Santa Monica-based producer at the peak of his considerable powers. Exquisite Corpse is a near perfect blend of the densely packed, sample heavy, nearly symphonic electronica and off-kilter hip-hop that the last three albums have featured. The main difference here is that for the first time a Daedelus record is loaded up with collaborations; MF Doom, Prefuse 73, Mike Ladd, French rappers TTC and Laura Darling among others, and while a few of them add some luster to the proceedings (MF Doom unspools a typically unhinged rap on the hilarious "Impending Doom," Mike Ladd drops a typically heavy rap into the melancholy and political "Welcome Home") for the most part the guests don't add or subtract much from the sound of the album. That sound is a clattering and sparkling blend of junk shop sampladelica, post-rock sound sculptures, fractured experimental techno and underground hip-hop that will have you clutching the arms of your chair as the record lurches and whirls from one ...
| | Pastor Troy By Choice Or By Force CD (2006) Edited
Make It Last Forever
$15.39 BY CHOICE OR BY FORCE is another potent dose of Southern-styled hardcore from Pastor Troy. Subtlety isn't exactly Troy's strong suit, but his fans aren't looking for nuance anyway. Laying down no-nonsense gangsta narratives in an adrenaline-fueled shout-rap over ominous, downtempo beats and samples, Troy doesn't skimp on the street bravado when kicking his grim tales of murder and hard living. BY CHOICE isn't exactly a party album: in both tone and lyrical content the disc is dark and threatening, but Troy and his crew sound as serious as a loaded gun, so the effort should pass muster with fans of the genre.
Kicking it off hard with the vicious Lil Jon/BME diss track "Murda Man 2," Pastor Troy's By Choice or By Force is a solid, no-nonsense effort by the aggressive rapper, and while it does feel a bit thrown together, it does end up one of his most satisfying full-lengths. The problem lies in the album's tendency to put similar tracks together. The sleazy party cuts "I Like All That" and "Drop That Ass" are two sides of the same coin, and ...
