Who says The Cure don't have a sense of humor? While The Cure had often struggled with the dichotomy between dancing and moping in an attempt to prove that the two were not incompatible, critics simply smiled at the band's audacity. What did a band of pasty-faced art students from England know about bumping on the dance floor anyway? As it turns out, the band knew quite a bit. While The Cure had not made a pure "dance" record since THE WALK, their albums usually contained a track or two to keep the ol' feet a-tapping.
MIXED UP collects, extends and deconstructs several of the Cure's bouncier tracks (and a few surprises) from the latter half of their career. Most of the re-mixes aren't that surprising, "Close to Me" is extended much as one would expect and "The Walk (Everything Mix)" lives up to its name. On the other hand the unlikely "Pictures of You" is re-imagined as a semi-dub track(!) and even the brooding "Fascination Street" turns out to be a lot more upbeat than one might have imagined. With the addition of the strong new track, "Never Enough," The Cure has no trouble rocking the party out.
Remixes of previously released material plus 1 new song.

| Mixed Up Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) Easily the most accessible Cure disc out there... For those new to the band, this is a good first introduction. This is basically a compilation of all their hits, but in order to keep them fresh and new, all the tracks were re-mixed by their frontman Robert Smith. I hate to be that guy that always buys the "Greatest Hits" album and bypasses all the good hidden songs on a particular disc. This, however, is much better than your standard Greatest Hits compilation. All of the songs have a new sound and feel to them, almost like hearing them for the first time. Honestly, unless you know the lyrics you may not even recognize some of them as older works. If you like The Cure, it is highly recommended. If you are new to the group, it is definitely a good first look at the band. Submitted by roperphoto (Fort Worth, TX, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Absolutely nothing in comparison!!! I have them all in my music cd/dvd collection. But this one really have caught my enthusiasm. This album doesn't deserve as 5 stars only. It's like an endless extension of their greatest performance. This is a brilliant mixed. This is One Mixed Up or nothing! Jay of Dgte. I can't put in words how good this CD is.. This CD is phenomenal. I like the Cure's original songs but to me the remixed versions are more stylized and just plain better. They have more rhythm and mood than the originals. They seem more serious and thoughtful. When I play the Cure, and I have all of their original albums, this is the one I play. A very COOL record! The Cure are awesome at remixing songs you thought couldn't be better. "Lullaby" is such a perfect mix you could dance or fall asleep to it. Every tune is just that "Mixed Up" and amazing. A must have for any Cure fan, great music fan or even yes, a dance album. (Beleive me I know.) The Cure received Best British Band at the Brit awards in 1991 for this album. (They should of received it for every album they've released) And an award for the remix of "Close To Me". So you really should add this to your music collection. It won't get dusty if you appreciate great songs and master mixing. Submitted by a reviewer (Murfreesboro TN) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$9.95 Signing to a major-label doesn't really change Guster's outlook for their third album, Lost & Gone Forever. However, the switch to the big leagues has given the band the opportunity to hire a heavy-hitter producer, Steve Lillywhite, who performs a similar function here that he did with Dave Matthews. Lillywhite doesn't attempt to change Guster's jovial folk-pop, ...

| | 8Ball & MJG Comin' Out Hard CD (1993) Chop
Mixed Up
$12.25 Along with OutKast's Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (1994) and Goodie Mob's Soul Food (1995), Eightball & MJG's debut, Comin' Out Hard, is one of the most influential rap albums to come out of the South. It wasn't as widely heard as those others albums, nor was it as professional-sounding; however, its independent release by Suave Records, based in Houston, and its basement-level production were influential in their own way. A generation of underground Southern rappers would arise by the end of the '90s, many of them following the template of Comin' Out Hard: underground hardcore rap modeled after West Coast gangsta rap yet delivered in a distinctly Southern manner, released via an indie label with major ambitions. Even the cover artwork of Comin' Out Hard, courtesy of Pen & Pixel Graphics, was influential, as the company would go on to design all the bling-blinging No Limit and Cash Money albums of the late '90s. Unfortunately, Comin' Out Hard is more historically significant than it is impressive from a strictly musical point of ...
