"The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" was nominated for a 1988 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
SUPA DUPA FLY was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
As a member of the R&B group Sista, Missy Elliott went almost unnoticed. It wasn't until years later, when she placed her trademark "hee-hee-hee-hee-ha" lyrics on a Gina Thompson remix that she achieved recognition. Missy's songwriting credits include a number of R&B hits (SWV's "Can We" and Aaliyah's "4 Page Letter"), and her familiar vocal style has been featured on some of the year's hottest remixes, including Li'l Kim's "Not Tonight".
Produced by Timbaland (Ginuwine, Aaliyah), SUPA DUPA FLY showcases the studio whiz's unique recording techniques. The tempos here are much slower than on the average hip-hop release, with rhythms akin to dancehall music. Missy doesn't limit herself to rap, either. Many of the songs on SUPA DUPA FLY fall easily into the R&B bag, especially when Missy swaps her hard-core hip-hop lyrics for a smooth laid-back approach.

$6.69 These 6 songs are contain the Hip Hop and R & Bselections from My 2 CD's "Resistance Is Futile" and"Industrial World"I had written "Talk To The Hand"back in 1999 and had always intented it to be of a Hip Hop /R & B format, but when I started recording this CD in 2004 I had just finished writting "Rock The J-Lo" and from the get-go I knew only a Hip Hop style would work. From My Bass playing in My Uncles band and love for R & B and Blanes experience at recordingRap and soul groups We were able to come up with a greatHip Hop flavored song.We did "Talk to the Hand" the following Week, I had askedBlane if He could do a Guitar Hook simular to the Average White Bands " Cut the Cake" Blane came up with a great guitar riff and added some heavy cords to go along with it.It was always My intention to put this on My 2nd CD,I rewrote the lyrics to the Crystal Waters hit -Gypsy Woman(She's Homeless) and gave it a Male aspectand called it "He's Homeless" using the same cord structure as the original. You've Got The Drop also from the first CD is My"Funky Town" filled with a lot of rhyming one liners.I wrote "Psychic to Psychic Love" in 1998 and thought it could be a a good song, I asked Blane for a Raegae effectand when it was finished I thought it came out a lot better than I ever imagined it could be.I wrote "Internet Party" last year it is a song about finding Love and Romance on these internet dating sites.I got together with Blane and wanted a Computer back ground effect like that of Paul Mc Cartneys-"Temporary Secretary" ...
