The Doors Open
Few bands begin recording with their sound fully realized, but the Doors did. Supposedly recorded to document their live act trotted around LA, where they were the house band at the Whiskey A Go-Go. Legend has it, the Doors performance of "The End" pushed the Whiskey's management over the top and the Doors out the nightclub door and into the studio.Many became familiar with the end years later when it made such a dramatic splash as a soundtrack in Francis Ford Coppolla's "Appocolapse Now." This cut has not dated or diminished in impact. But, there is much more here. Many consider this the Doors' best. But, this is no place to stop. If you like this, you will want to open more Doors. -Randolph Wish

A Classic
We already know this album is a classic, and its a must have for anybodys cd collection. All the songs are great on the album, the best in my opinion are "The End" and "Soul Kitchen." I highly recommend this album to anybody that has respect for great music!

A Simple Stroke of Genius!
This alblum really changed the way music was and is a great example of good hippy music. The Doors outdid themselves and the organs were simply awesome. If you dont have any 60s music here is a damn good reason to get this one.

'The Doors' was an album that changed the path of mainstream American music
I love this album. As stated in the headline of the review, this controversial recording, along with other artists of the time, subtly changed the path of pop culture and broke many traditional barriers. The Beatles made Rock popular, and The Doors along with other greats insured that Rock and Roll would live for ages. LCD driven genius Jim Morrison spoke for the population of youth who wheren't content with the boy-meets-girl boy-gets-girl music of the time. This album is a classic.
