Comparable to Slayer, Megadeth, and Metallica, Testament is one of thrash metal's more accessible and best-known bands. Testament quickly earned respect in thrash circles with its debut album, The Legacy, a relentlessly heavy and promising effort focusing on such subjects as the occult, witchcraft, nuclear war, and global destruction. Though one can hear the influence of Judas Priest and Metallica on bonecrushing numbers like "Burnt Offerings," "Apocalyptic City," and "First Strike Is Deadly," there's no question that Testament had a collective personality and vision of its own. Alex Perialas' production is superb -- well respected in metal circles, he obviously encouraged Testament to play hard and let it rip. ~ Alex Henderson
Recorded at Pyramid Sound Studio, Ithaca, New York.
Testament: Chuck Billy (vocals); Eric Peterson, Alex Skolnick (guitar); Greg Christian (bass); Louie Clemente (drums).

Classic 80's Metal If you're looking at this album, you probably already know that it is one of the best metal albums of the 1980's. If you don't already know that, then you should get this album only if you love 80's metal (true metal, not poser metal). Submitted by a reviewer (New York) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Thrash's finest hour & Testament's single defining work When I first heard of Testament I never gave the band the respected that it deserved and always ranked Metallica and Megadeth much higher. But after recently listening to this album with new ears I came to appreciate it for what it was worth. The complexity and musicianship displayed on this album is amazing and is severely underrated in the thrash metal community. The best tracks include Apocalyptic City, COTLOD, and the jawdropping opening song Over the Wall. The speed and aggression displayed on here is unique. Chuck Billy's vocals are also at the phase in the band's career where he didn't end up degenerating into the James Hetfield clone like he did on any of the band's later works. Highly recommended and amongst the albums in my definitive thrash albums list along with Death Angel - Ultra Violence and Megadeth - Rush Peace. $7.99 After years struggling for recognition while watching their peers achieve fame and fortune, Bay Area mainstays Exodus had every reason to be dejected when they re-grouped in 1989 to record their third album Fabulous Disaster. Still, they went on to create their most diverse and carefully conceived effort yet, while remaining faithful to their no-frills thrash ethic. But while the album represented the realization of their vision, as well as their commercial peak, it still failed to gain them their well-deserved place alongside such thrash metal giants as Metallica, ...

$8.15 Had it been released immediately after it was recorded in 1984, Exodus' Bonded by Blood might be regarded today alongside Metallica's Kill 'em All as one of the landmark albums responsible for launching the thrash metal wave. But by the time it finally hit the streets more than a year later due to numerous record company-related difficulties, the genre the band helped spawn had evolved at an alarming rate (again, largely thanks to the unstoppable Metallica) and Exodus were left to wonder what kind of impact they may have ...

She is also happy that she had the opportunity to reunite with her friends in the Sounds of Blackness (Mary Had A Baby)(Thank you Gary Hines) as well as work with her cast members from Smokey Joe's Cafe (Let It Snow)(Dennis Spears -LA, Daryl Jovan-NY and Charles Johnson-NY).This project allowed her to work with some of the Twin Cities finest musicians including Thom West-keyboards, Dean Magraw-guitar, Paul Johnson & Gary Raynor-bass, Dave Foley-Trumpet and Frank Wharton-vibes. A very special surprise finds her son Brandon stealing some of the drum spotlight from her regular drummer (her husband Robert). Check him out on Let It Snow, Mary Had a Baby and of course Drummer Boy. Take a listen to this CD and you'll be sure to agree that there is something for everyone and that everyone will be truly pleased to have this as part of their collection. Ginger has been a member of the Twin Cities music scene for many years. After attending college, she joined the Grammy Award winning Sounds of Blackness, touring across the United States and opening shows for The Jackson Five, Roberta Flack and The Pointer Sisters. Through the years Ginger has also traveled the Gospel train. She was instrumental in ministering, performing and recording with Sam Davis and The Twin Cities Gospel Ensemble, and taking that 'soprano line' up a little higher with the JD Steele singers. After performing with the Grammy Award winning, The Sounds of Blackness over 15 years, The 'Sounds' included one of her arrangements on their release, The Night Before Christmas: A Musical ...
