Personnel: Vangelis (various instruments); Guy Pritheroe (vocals); Bruno Manjarres, Pepe Martinez (Spanish guitar, vocals); Francis Darizcuren (mandolin, violin); Didier Malherbe (flute); English Chamber Choir (vocals). All music composed by Vangelis. Suitably grand in scale and far-reaching in its scope, this soundtrack is the first new music from Vangelis since 1990's The City. 1492 stands up well next to Vangelis's classic Chariots of Fire, due to his innate ability to get right inside the material and provide an integral part of the film itself. Vangelis succeeds in capturing the 15th-century mood, mixing rich choral portions with modern elements, and portraying the larger than life character of Columbus, complete with full-range, dynamic sound. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats 1492: The Conquest Of Paradise Soundtrack Music | List Price | $13.96 (You save $5.57) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Electronica CDs, Soundtrack | | Label | Atlantic | | Orig Year | 1992 | | All Time Sales Rank | 17174 | | CD Universe Part number | 1097271 | | Catalog number | 82432 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Oct 20, 1992 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | Vangelis | | Engineer | Philippe Colonna | | Recording Time | 54 minutes | | Additional Info | Original Soundtrack |

Extraordinary After my opinion, this is the best Vangelis album. This was my first Vangelis CD and since then I have been buying all his CD's that came in my hand. This is a great new age album and you can feel like it is taking you on a journey to the 15th century Spain. Although not everyone liked the movie, this is a must-have album for all music fans and Vangelis fans alike. Submitted by suicune (Romania) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Worth every SINGLE cent!!!! Even if you've seen the movie 1492: Conquest of Paradise, you MUST buy this album. The movie does not do this album justice. Never before have I been as impressed with a soundtrack for any movie as I was this one. Truth of the matter is that Vangelis had been asked by Ridley Scott to do the music for this movie because he was so successful in doing music for other films such as Chariots of Fire and Bladerunner. One was a present day movie, one a futuristic movie. When Scott asked Vangelis to do this album for a historical movie he agreed. I've got to tell you, I think most people would have been a little nervous that after so many successful albums that they'd be bound to screw one up. Not so with Vangelis. What confidence! What an absolute masterpiece! This music practically "tells the story" itself! If you buy this album I promise you won't be disappointed. It is without a doubt worth every single cent. Liner Note Authors: Rob Zombie; Tyler Bates. Photographer: Gene Page. "Have fun scrapin' all them brains off the road!" That's just one of the lively quotes peppering the between-song crevices on the soundtrack to Devil's Rejects, Rob Zombie's sequel to his 2003 horror genre throwback House of 1000 Corpses. The dialogue snippets add character to the set, just like the blood, shotguns, and verité mug shots of its artwork. (To say nothing of the entirely separate album released from Banjo & Sullivan, the film's fictional honky tonkers.) Yeah, you can say whatever you want about Zombie. Just don't ever call him unimaginative. Devil's Rejects adheres to its time period with a brace of rock from 1973 through around 1975, and blends the tracks from James Gang ("Funk #49"), Three Dog Night ("Shambala"), and the Allmans ("Midnight Rider") with classic honky tonk from Kitty Wells and Buck Owens. It's a great blend of album rock, air guitar faves, eccentric picks, and country ramble -- it would be like the perfect radio road trip down I-65, if radio in America actually still sounded like this. Devil's Rejects also features ...
