All songs written or co-written by Kenny "G-Love" Greene, except "Ribbon In The Sky" (Stevie Wonder). Contains samples from "Gotta Have It" (Ed O.G. & Tha Bulldogs), and "Impeach The President" (The Honeydrippers).
In 1993, many of the younger R&B singers were looking more and more like rappers. Instead of silk shirts, Armani suites, and other upscale attire, these artists were sporting gold chains, baggy pants, knit caps, sweats, and gym shoes -- in other words, the last things that Luther Vandross or Freddie Jackson would have worn on stage. Take Intro, for example. The urban/neo-soul trio had a hip-hop look, but its self-titled debut album from 1993 isn't rap. Influenced by LeVert, After 7, and Aaron Hall, Intro favors a style of urban contemporary that is smooth and polished yet gritty and earthy. Intro looked like a rap group and went for a high-tech, hip-hop-influenced production style, but the songs themselves (many of which are romantic ballads and slow jams) have a neo-soul perspective. While Intro's first CD never sounds like it was recorded in 1978 or 1981, it does contain elements of the Isley Brothers, the Gap Band, and Stevie Wonder -- the sort of soul and funk heavyweights who helped paved the way for urban favorites like LeVert, Aaron Hall, K-Ci & JoJo, and R. Kelly. In fact, one of the tracks is a likable cover of Wonder's "Ribbon in the Sky," although Intro's own songs are dominant. Intro's debut album falls short of exceptional, but it's a decent, pleasant effort that has enough going for it to make you want to keep a close eye on the threesome and monitor its development. ~ Alex Henderson

A Lost Treasure What can I say? This album is truly a charm. Intro was a great group and only recorded 2 albums to my knowledge. Their ballads such as "Don't Leave Me" are heartfelt expressions of love. It is hard to find singers like that these days. Also, their version of Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon In The Sky" is outstanding! How many covers can you say that about? Not many. The upbeat tunes also put you in a great mood! Intro is definitely a listening pleasure. Too bad they are a lost treasure. Listening to INTRO Well this is my second time purchasing this album because it is such an essential album that has to be had in the collection, and I first purchased this album on tape so I had to upgrade, but this is an album that you can play straight through and just groove to all tracks. My special favorites are the tracks that go with the candle light dinner like "Ribbon in the Sky", "Don't Leave Me", and "Come Inside". Unfortunately the lead singer and song writer Kenny Greene has passed away so we will not be hearing anymore from INTRO. Submitted by qilobaby (Bronx, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
I miss you Kenny [G-Love] Greene and the Group I heard the songs from this group and noticed my daughter had the tape and fell in love with the music. The lead singer just had this voice that was sexy and smooth. [I was like Yeah!!! thats the one] I later purchase the New Life cd and I never stopped listening to Intro. I listen to Intro each and everyday and made picture earrings, so I will always have there photo with me close to my heart. I do like other groups, but not like Intro and Kenny {G-Love} Greene. This group made love history and whomever they choose to be in Kenny's place, I will continue to buy there music, because you can not let a great group just die. The lead singer please just sing from your heart like Kenny Greene did and your personal life is your business. Just be true to yourself as well as your fans.
Anyway,
I will always love you Intro.
Your devoted fan Theresa[Sparkle]from Baltimore, Maryland.

| | For The Kids CD (2002)
Intro songs
$10.29 VH1's Save the Music Foundation and Nettwerk came together in fall 2002 to support music education around North America. The various-artists collection For the Kids is a delightful way to do it. The 16-track compilation features an assorted mix of classic children's songs and fresh originals sung by some of modern rock's finest artists. For the Kids presents a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Canadian songstress Sarah McLachlan gets a little froggy in covering The Muppet Show favorite "The Rainbow Connection." This particular track was initially introduced by Kermit the Frog in The Muppet Movie in 1979, but McLachlan's angelic presentation will surely win kids over. Barenaked Ladies and Guster cover Sesame Street favorites, while Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik penned one of the album's most charming moments with "The Hoppity Song." An amazing close to the record comes from blues crooner Tom Waits. Available for the first time, "Bend Down the Branches" is a sweepy bedtime lullaby. Artists like Remy Zero, Ivy, Darius Rucker, and ex-Toad the Wet Sprocket frontman Glen Phillips are also included on this sweet effort. A portion of the proceeds made from For the Kids will go to the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, which has raised more than 21 million dollars for instruments and musical education for 900 public schools in 75 cities across North America since 1997. ~ MacKenzie Wilson

| | Eminem Curtain Call: The Hits CD (2005) Edited
Intro CD music
$10.45 It's hard to believe, given his gargantuan impact on popular culture, that Eminem had only released four full-length albums by 2004. That year's ENCORE showed the rapper's artistic vitality fading just a bit, but 2005's CURTAIN CALL, an overdue greatest-hits collection, helps remind audiences that Eminem produced a stunning string of singles in a short span of time. Naturally, CURTAIN CALL eschews the artist's most controversial material ("'97 Bonnie and Clyde," for example, from THE SLIM SHADY LP), focusing instead on his highest charters, like 8 MILE's "Lose Yourself" and introspective confessionals like "Cleanin' Out My Closet" (a rant against his mother) and "Mockingbird" (a tribute to his daughter).
But even at his most sentimental and dramatic, Eminem displays a level of artistry that surpasses nearly anyone in hip-hop, if not pop music in general. Satirical, vicious, funny, and energizing, Eminem's material is never less than absorbing. CURTAIN CALL is packed wall-to-wall with winners (except maybe "Sing For the Moment," which reworks Aerosmith's "Dream On" in tiresome fashion), and at its most brilliant (like the self-reflexive romps "The Real Slim Shady" and "Stan") it's as era-defining as anything by N.W.A, Public Enemy, or even Bob Dylan. Though his individual albums are all pretty essential, CURTAIN CALL provides a valuable overview of an artist whose skills are unassailable, and whose role as a social gadfly remains as complex as ever.

If Eminem's Curtain Call: The Hits really is his final bow and not merely a clever denouement to his series of Eminem Show and Encore albums, it's a worthy way to retire. And even if he stages a comeback years from now, there's little question that the first five years of his career, spanning four albums plus a soundtrack, will be his popular and creative peak, meaning that the time is right for Curtain Call -- it has all the songs upon which his legend lies. Which isn't necessarily the same things as all the hits. There are a few odds and ends missing -- most notably one of his first hip-hop hits, "Just Don't Give a Fuck," ...
| | Hell City Love CD (2002)
Intro music CDs
$6.69 HELL CITY LOVE After a long time in the making Hell City Love became a reality in the beginning of 2001. Coming straight from the underground of Hell City (Halifax NS, Canada) they've lit a fire under the ass of rock and roll making people pay attention. A quick rise on the local scene has helped the band to achieve a strong following and a solid reputation in a very short time. Infamous music critic and writer Ronald Thomas Clontle has said "Hell City Love rock, and they have the potential to rule, without a doubt." Sterling J. Ramone himself has said "There is finally someone who can fill the long empty void in rock music, this band will blow you away. Think the directness of Motorhead with the songwriting of Johnny Thunders, throw in the attitude of The Stooges and the drunken unpredictability of early Replacements and you've got the basic formula for Hell City Love." Comparisons to Fear, The New York Dolls and the Damned have come out of more than a few well-informed mouths.Fueled by alcohol and volume the band has become known for a memorable live show where the audience is just as much part of the experience as the band. Already the band has shared the stage with such artists as Nashville Pussy, Guided by Voices, Reverend Horton Heat and April Wine among many others and managed to win new fans with every show they play. Hell City's newest heroes, Hell City Love are an electrifying display of the true spirit of rock. People can love them or hate them, but there is no ignoring them. They command their audience and own the stage with their songs that will make you want to get on up, shake ya ass and watch yo'self. In the words of the mighty Desmond Troyer "We make no excuses, no apologies, if you don't like it face the f*cking wall!"Produced by Brobdingnagian Records mastermind Dennis Stewart the debut EP was recorded over a drunken three day period in the remote Tanta Lon wastelands past the outskirts of Hell City. Recorded with the help of the same team ...
