Recorded early in Bobby Darin's career, about 18 months after his 1959 album, THAT'S ALL, this live set finds the pop singer broadening his artistic scope, while consolidating his commercial appeal with a scattershot roster of songs that includes a creditable version of Ray Charles's "I Got a Woman," his classic swinging take on Brecht and Weill's darkly humorous "Mack the Knife," and a Sinatra-like medley of "By Myself" and "When Your Lover Has Gone." This being the early '60s, he was still performing his breakthrough hit, "Dream Lover," though at this point in his career an increasing musical sophistication was enabling him to also tackle more complex material, such as the world-weary "Love For Sale," with ease. Though his insouciant approach to the more ring-a-ding-ding material, like "Some of These Days," sounds a little forced, when he relaxes and lets the song take him, as on the ballad "I Have Dreamed," the results are nothing short of spectacular.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.

 classic darin
If you are a Darin fan, this album is nice addition to your collection. Some songs I didn't care for, (like Clementine, Bill Bailey, the Lonesome Road)but these are a matter of choice. But songs like, "Love for Sale" and the medley, "By Myself & When your Lover has Gone," are outstanding. There is also a Ray Charles rendition of "I got a Woman" which is a nice tribute to the great Ray Charles. The other nice songs are, Mack the Knife & Dream Lover. For being a live album, it sounds fairly good. You should buy it! Al...a true Darin fan.

 Didn't meet my expectations!
Maybe i expected too much, but this cd left me flat. Mr. Darin sounds as if he's performing a self parody. Too many grunts, yowls, hos and yeahs to suit my taste. I wanted to hear a great singer deliver a stellar performance to a live audience and i didn't get it!!! To say i was disappointed with this cd would be an understatement!!!

Jim and Pat Garrett Show began some years ago as a two-man act in a bar in Stockholm. The year after, the two brothers met Daddy Garrett during a wet night in the city's club life and performed a couple of shows together. Involving Joe Garrett later the same year and thus completing the band, lead to the recordings and release of their debut album in December 2007. Shortly after, the music video and single "This Is Not What You'd Expect" were released and Swedish Television featured another of the songs from the album, "I Won't Kill No More".The music is mainly a mixture of alternative acoustic pop and various traditional folk, with often highly political lyrics as well as traditional poetry.
