"Most High" won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
Don't call it a come back, they've been here for years. Eighteen years after the death of John Bonham broke up Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, the man who launched a thousand David Coverdales, and guitar wizard Jimmy Page have reunited for WALKING INTO CLARKSDALE, their first studio album together since 1979's IN THROUGH THE OUTDOOR. But unlike most "supergroup" reunions, they never said never.
Beginning with "Shining In The Light," Page's familiar acoustic guitar takes us back to Led Zeppelin circa PRESENCE. Page's trademark axe work and loud-soft-loud dynamics are all over this CD. But even though all the old Zeppelin elements are there, the duo aren't just reliving old glories. Bassist Charlie Jones and drummer Michael Lee as well as alternative rock uber-producer Steve Albini help keep these old gents current. And where Plant may not be able to wail like a castrated muezzin anymore, his singular voice still sounds as fresh as ever on the rockin' "Sons Of Freedom," the bluesy "Walking Into Clarksdale" and atmospheric "Heart In Your Hand."
Additional personnel includes: Tim Whelan (keyboards); Ed Shearmur (programming).
Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London, England.
Personnel: Robert Plant (vocals); Jimmy Page (guitar); Charlie Jones (bass); Michael Lee (drums).
Entertainment Weekly (4/24/98, p.78) - "...Plant's Moroccan-blues swagger and Page's unmistakable, scruffy guitar touch come together beautifully. This song set sounds both vintage and, thanks to the lingering Zep craze, of the moment." - Rating: A- Walking Into Clarksdale Music Jimmy Page Walking Into Clarksdale Songs Walking Into Clarksdale Music Review Buy Walking Into Clarksdale CD Purchase Walking Into Clarksdale CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Led Zeppelin BBC Sessions CDs (1997)
Walking Into Clarksdale album
$17.25 The material on the BBC SESSIONS is drawn from the band's performances for the British Broadcasting Corporation in 1969 and 1971. Disc 1 is presented in mono while Disc 2 is presented in stereo.
There is no question that Led Zeppelin was one of the greatest studio bands ever. Every rock album made since 1969 owes a huge debt to the techniques Jimmy Page developed, especially his groundbreaking "guitar-as-orchestra" style of layering track upon track. But what is often forgotten is that for all of their studio tinkering, they could deliver a live performance as powerful and full of spontaneity as any "jam" band.
Disc one, recorded on four separate nights in 1969, shows a raw, blues-obsessed rock and roll band. The emphasis is clearly placed on creating a highly-charged improvisatory atmosphere. Recorded in 1971, just before the release of their seminal IV album, disc two captures ...
| | Eric Clapton Pilgrim CD (1998)
Walking Into Clarksdale CD music
$10.89 PILGRIM was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Pop Album. "My Father's Eyes" won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
Since donning an Armani suit back in the decadent '80s, Eric Clapton's music has become more polished as he's gotten older. Despite recording the all-blues FROM THE CRADLE collection in 1994, E.C. has either gone unplugged, collaborated with silky-smooth soulsters such as Babyface, or dabbled with current electronic trends. PILGRIM finds Slowhand doing all of the above on his first album of original material in nearly a decade. Unlike many older artists dipping their toes into the electronic pool, Clapton and co-producer Simon Climie's restrained use of programming gilds rather than overwhelms these original numbers.
In a welcome turn, Clapton wrote or co-wrote every song with the exception of Bob Dylan's "Born In Time" and "Going Down Slow," a St. Louis Jimmy blues nugget. Joined by Babyface on the former, Clapton gives both ...

| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Walking Into Clarksdale songs
$6.19 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," ...

Walking Into Clarksdale CD music
$11.99 Despite middle-of-nowhere jokes like the Mountain Goats' hilarious shaggy dog story "The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton," the north central Texas college town has thrown up some really good artists, from Brave Combo to Corn Mo. Studiously cool post-rockers Mandarin are another link in that chain, and Fast Future Present is a self-assured ...
