After scoring big with their previous effort, FLOORED, Sugar Ray returns with their infectious blend of funky grooves, modern rock and hip-hop. The group manages to meld all of these styles into an excellently produced, exciting record.
Opening with the deceptive, Sepultura style "New Direction," Sugar Ray glides into a mellower mode with the album's first single "Every Morning," a comfortable pop ditty. "Live And Direct" has a reggae feel and features veteran rapper KRS-One. "Someday" is a straight-ahead pop tune, with some drum loops and scratches thrown in. "Ode To The Lonely Hearted" combines smooth harmonies with catchy hooks. "Even Though" rocks harder, but still remains a slick, short and sweet pop tune. "Abracadabra" is a cover of Steve Miller's smash hit, with some extra keyboards and programming added. Sugar Ray is a rock band that fuses other elements into their sound for wider appeal. They don't pretend to be master MC's or turntable wizards, and 14:59 is a good party record from a band that doesn't take itself too seriously.

so after they got big with this, as logic would dictate, they continued the trend. here it wasn't a problem, but for future releases it was. new direction is very old school Sugar Ray. from there on we have the most ballsy pop album you can buy, even every morning's a good song to this day. my favourite song on this cd however is still Some Day, in fact, even though i like the heavier Sugar Ray stuff more, my favourite song ever by them is probably Some Day, followed closely by Ode to the Lonely Hearted, especially in recent times. if we could forget everything that came after this for the good of all humanity, that'd be great.

this is one of my favorite cds. All the songs are great. espcially someday, every morning, personal space invader, even though, and glory. If you like Sugar Ray then you must get this cd!

This is one of my favorite albums. The songs Every Morning, Personal Space Invader, and Someday are my favorites. I like how Sugar Ray uses a variety of music. Even Though and Ode to the lonley hearted are softer rock while Glory and Aim for Me are harder rock. Live and Direct sounds like a hip-hop song. I like all the songs and Sugar Ray Rules!
